There's also a GBA to TV adapter you can find on eBay for about the same price if not cheaper than the Player.

It looks like it will be a major PITA and cost more $$$ to mod a Wii U to run a generic GB emulator, build a retroPi or connect a GBA to a TV after doing some research. I think I opt for using a USB controller and emulator on a computer instead.

I am curious about the emulator on the Wii U. Does it require hardware modifications?

I'm pretty sure there's a GBA emulator for the Homebrew Channel. Smash Stack still works on the virtual Wii menu.

Nope, installing the Homebrew channel on the Wii side of things is all software.

It does require software that isn't trivial to get your hands on though.

I think there are a bunch of people who can create trailing images. I know some who could do this as if they were just going out for a stroll.
Last I checked, Smash Bros Brawl was trivial to acquire. I mean maybe this changed since the WiiU one came out but before that you could find copies at single-digit prices on ebay.

e: Just checked again, at least in Europe it's trivial and cheap to acquire.

Even if not, if you live in America, just go to your nearest GameStop, pick up a used copy and bring it back within 7 days for a full refund.

I used this.

Make sure to get nintendont too when you're done. It's the only way to natively play Gamecube games on a Wii U and it's amazing.

It updates after midday in EU, (1-2pm GMT or something?), so early Friday for AU/NZ.

First-party retail downloads go up at midnight.

Doesn't hurt that I met one of the devs at a conference about a year ago and he was really nice. He was showing off the game on a PC so it's obviously coming to other platforms.

NOA listed Devil's Third in the "also new" section of their PR alongside all the crap. Pearls before swine.

Radiohammer is an Aksys-published port of a smartphone rhythm game about whacking things with a big hammer in time to music; this version has a cameo appearance by a character from doujin fighting game Chaos Code, of all things.

PAL Wii U dudes, Shovel Knight just got a new update to add amiibo functionality, plus a few bugfixes and other tweaks (like an option to reverse the confirm/back buttons).

This update was supposed to hit 3DS at the same time but they had to make a last-minute fix, so it'll drop at some other point in the near future.

NA dudes, you'll get the patch on January 8.
