Mike Holt posted:

WHAT DOES THE CONSTITUTION SAY?

We should all be aware of Sections 46 to 49 in the Constitution, because these do not need a referendum to amend. They stand ‘until the Parliament otherwise provides’...meaning that Parliament can vote to amend them whenever it is deemed necessary.

Therefore, our representatives are under an obligation to ensure that these sections are applied whenever it is clear anyone is contravening the Constitution.

The only reason our representatives are not applying these sections is because they are not accountable to We the People, and therefore they do not feel they have to act according to our highest law. In addition, these sections give the politicians the freedom to decide on their own salaries and perks. Why should they act?

So let's examine what these sections are:

46 Penalty for sitting when disqualified

Until the Parliament otherwise provides, any person declared by
this Constitution to be incapable of sitting as a senator or as a
member of the House of Representatives shall, for every day on
which he so sits, be liable to pay the sum of one hundred pounds to
any person who sues for it in any court of competent jurisdiction.

(Under Section 44 no one may sit in Parliament who is under any acknowledgment of allegiance, obedience, or adherence to a foreign power, or is a subject or a citizen or entitled to the rights or privileges of a subject or a citizen of a foreign power...yet we have Ed Huisic sitting in the Senate who was sworn in on the koran. All moslems owe their allegiance to the Islamic State (Remember ISIS?) first. When questioned all moslems will tell you that they believe sharia law is above the Australian Constitution because it is "god's law".

Therefore, We the People should be putting pressure on the Parliament to apply Section 46 against anyone who contravenes it.)

47 Disputed elections

Until the Parliament otherwise provides, any question respecting
the qualification of a senator or of a member of the House of
Representatives, or respecting a vacancy in either House of the Parliament, and any question of a disputed election to either House,
shall be determined by the House in which the question arises.

(This section goes hand-in-hand with Section 46 and should be applied as well.)

48 Allowance to members

Until the Parliament otherwise provides, each senator and each
member of the House of Representatives shall receive an
allowance of four hundred pounds a year, to be reckoned from the
day on which he takes his seat.

(This section allows Parliamentarians to vote themselves pay rises and other benefits whenever they wish. This is why we are paying so much for such poor representation.)

49 Privileges etc. of Houses

The powers, privileges, and immunities of the Senate and of the
House of Representatives, and of the members and the committees
of each House, shall be such as are declared by the Parliament, and
until declared shall be those of the Commons House of Parliament
of the United Kingdom, and of its members and committees, at the
establishment of the Commonwealth.

(In conjunction with Section 48, section 49 justifies the huge salaries and perks paid to politicians. In effect, we have given the foxes in the chook house ultimate power to pay themselves whatever they want. No wonder we are paying so much for a bunch of professional politicians who are not working for We the People!)

Are you happy with this?

If not, then join the growing demand for Citizens Initiated Referendums (CIR) so that We the People can have an active say in how we are governed.

CIR will put the power into our hands to amend our Constitution and bring it into line with modern day realities.

CIR will ensure that We the People have the power to safeguard out nation by bringing in laws to protect us.

You can do your bit to bring in CIR. If you live in Queensland vote for me at the next election.

If you live in any other state and you would like to see me in the Senate representing ALL Australians donate towards my election fund:

I am debating going on Centrelink while out of work because its coming up to a tricky season to find work and honestly I would rather be off work over xmas anyway. I have about 5 grand saved which I was hoping to use to pay for a sinus operation next year - is this going to affect my chance at receiving welfare payments?

Im currently living off that money and while I dont mind doing so, I really need to get my loving sinus fixed.

There is no requirement, however based on how much money you have centrelink can withhold funding for up to 13 weeks. At least that was what I found when I looked into it for my housemate (same situation, unemployed but with savings for surgery).

I'M CONCERNED ABOUT A NUMBER OF THINGS
The Victorian ALP's branch-stacking scandal has escalated into a bitter legal row, with party headquarters taking Supreme Court action against a veteran whistleblower who has pursued factional chieftains over widespread membership rorting.

In an unprecedented move, the party through lawyers Slater and Gordon is seeking an injunction against pensioner and Labor volunteer Eric Dearricott, in relation to membership information he has used to pursue his concerns about branch stacking.

Teen arrested in counter-terrorism raids in Sydney was under surveillance for more than a year

A 15-year-old boy arrested in counter-terrorism raids in Sydney on Thursday had been under surveillance for more than a year and had been convicted on firearms charges, a court has heard.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was among a group of five people who were on Thursday charged with conspiracy to conduct an act in preparation for a terrorist act.

He applied for bail at Parramatta Children's Court through his barrister Charles Waterstreet.

Police prosecutor Senior Sergeant Bruce Wells argued against the boy's release and said he posed a risk to the safety of the community.

Sergeant Wells said the boy used coded text messages to communicate with his co-accused about becoming a martyr.

In one message from October 2014, the boy said: "I'm going to get to paradise through banana, God is great, no God but Allah."

The court heard the word "banana" was a coded reference for a gun.

Sergeant Wells also tendered a bundle of photographs of the boy to the court which showed him dressed in black and holding a shotgun.

Among the photos police recovered were pictures of an Islamic State fighter and a picture of an Islamic State beheading.

The boy had been the subject of three separate counter-terrorism raids over the past two years; Thursday's raid was the third he had been the target of, the court heard.

He was home alone in the first raid in 2013 where police seized his PlayStation, phone, laptop and documents.

In the second raid the boy was arrested and subsequently charged with possessing an unauthorised firearm and was given an 18-month good behaviour bond.

Psychologist says boy suffered ongoing trauma

The boy's clinical and forensic psychologist, Hannan Dover, told the court he had suffered ongoing trauma, anxiety, depression and paranoia as a result of the raids.

Ms Dover told the court the boy fears for his safety after his home was raided by the Australian Federal Police while he was home alone.

"That incident was a total shock and horror," she said.

Ms Dover said the boy now has trouble eating, has frequent nightmares and sleeps in a sleeping bag on the floor of his parents bedroom.

She also told the court that the boy was paranoid and had the feeling he was constantly being watched.

"He doesn't have a lot of trust in people," she said.

"One of his closest friends was approached by ASIO and offered gym memberships to talk about [the boy]."

The boy's father offered up $400,000 in cash and property to secure his son's release on bail.

He told the court he would be willing for the boy to remain in home detention and would surrender his phone and report daily to police.

"Of course," he said.

"He's loved dearly by us and we'll stand by him."

Magistrate Elizabeth Ryan has reserved her decision until Friday.

Police analyse handwriting in seized documents

The teenager was arrested at Georges Hall, in Sydney's south-west, during one of several raids in Sydney yesterday.

There were also raids at properties in Bankstown, Wiley Park and Merrylands.

The ABC understands handwritten documents were taken from a unit on Memorial Avenue at Merrylands during one of the raids.

Police are analysing the handwriting in the seized documents to see if it matches the handwriting in documents they obtained previously, which allegedly contain plans for a terrorist attack.

Police believe a resident of the property may have written the plans in those documents.

]Guardian Australia has just two years to prove itself commercially viable before a multi-million-dollar loan is called in, as mounting losses push the business into negative equity.

The loss-making local digital operation of British newspaper The Guardian, which was set up with $1 of capital, is facing a 2018 deadline to repay multi-million-dollar borrowings as it burns cash at a fast rate.

Documents obtained by The Australian reveal a horror story of decline since the website’s launch in May 2013.

Debts outstrip equity, with borrowings of $23.9 million, and cash on the balance sheet of just $3.2m in the 12 months ended June 30, down from $7.4m in the prior corresponding period.

Guardian Australia had negative equity of $19.9m, according to the latest financial accounts.

A statement to The Australian on behalf of Guardian Australia managing director Ian McClelland said the business was “on track with our five-year plan to build a financially sustainable business in Australia”.

The founding investment was made possible by Australian businessman Graeme Wood, creator of travel website Wotif.

Mr Wood does not hold any equity in the entity Guardian Australia and is said to have an arm’s length relationship after financing the launch with unsecured borrowings expected to mature no earlier than 2018.

Mr Wood has never disclosed the size of the loan, which is included in Guardian Media Group’s non-current external borrowings and interest of $10.7m.

While Mr Wood could roll the loan over at maturity, he pulled investment in The Global Mail, a not-for-profit news website, at the start of last year after investing between $15m and $20m.

Guardian Australia’s fiscal losses blew out to $14m, up from $6m in the prior period, despite a 64 per cent rise in sales to $6.2m.

Like other unprofitable free news websites including Huffington Post and BuzzFeed, Guardian Australia has become a casualty in the race for cheap digital traffic as vast audiences produce limited revenues because of ever decreasing digital advertising rates.

The comments are about as terrible as you'd expect.
