Here's hoping that Rebel Veterans includes a couple of copies of Integrated Astromech so I don't have to buy more than one T-70 blister. I was actually thinking of running a Defender at one of the local leagues I go to this evening, so it's nice to see they'll be getting some love in the future. Maybe I'll be able to take them out for a spin competitively, instead of just fun games. Really though, this announcement just makes me excited for what they have in store for Scum and Rebels.

I certainly feel a lot better about owning two Defenders now, considering I only bought the second one for another copy of Predator for store championships before the Khiraxz came out.

And you'll have another in 3 to 6 months! E: on another note, there's a slim list of ships that can actually take Long Range Sensors: K Wing TIE Bomber TIE Punisher Firespray (with Slave 1 title) Aaaand that's it. It's going to be very useful for those ships though I think Advanced SLAM is a lot of competition in the K wing, but the Bomber, Punisher and Firespray all look like they're going to like it a lot, none of them have any massively competitive mods except maybe munitions failsafe on the Bomber and Punisher. Imperials and Rebel Aces both came out between waves right, not as part of a wave? Did they come out together or staggered? Not super important obviously but I'm just wondering if this Vets pack is likely to hit simultaneous with the rest of Wave 8 early next year or if these are expansions they're announcing for after all of that has arrived and made waves on tables. It seems like they must be kind of ready to go already since they're spoiling it before they've even spoiled the rest of Wave 8, but who knows. I do hope the Rebel and Scum versions aren't far behind - I love being able to pick basically any ship up off the shelf and find a real use for it.

Yeah they weren't quite same-time expansions. Rebel Aces came out close to, but not technically part of, Wave 5 (you could snag them all at GenCon if you were lucky).

Think the new PS6 Defender generics will have an EPT? If so, there might be good synergy with Juke and the TIE/x7 title. Take a 3/4/5-speed maneuver (including that K-turn!), get an evade, use it to trigger Juke if you don't get shot.

I didn't catch the "and" in there. That's pretty disappointing. I'd hoped it would be a reasonably competitive modification to compete with something like Engine Upgrade or Experimental Interface on E-wings, or Integrated Astromech on X-wings.

Long range sensors is going to be a good buff to low PS generic ordnance. It solves the problem of your opponent moving into firing range after you have already taken your action. Now they will much more reliably get to fire at least one missile, although getting further target locks becomes more tricky. The defender titles also look like a lot of fun. I want to try 3 defenders with tractor beams to see how much damage they can cause when the focus fire one poor sucker.

Long-ranged sensors is actually a very strong modification I think. The ability to 'bank' a target lock on turn 1 before the engagement begins is very powerful, and the downside shouldn't matter as much since range 1-2 is the time you most want to use focus/evade/barrel roll anyway.

Extra munitions helped the massive point inefficiency, and LRS helps the action inefficiency by letting you fire TL munitions while having a focus to use. I want to try a Redline with LRS now. Well Redline is more optimized for Cluster Missile shenanigans, though his ability does work just as well giving you an extra TL to spend on the ordnance roll itself. I'd like to try that new TIE Bomber with permanent Crack Shot kitted out with LRS and, oh, say Homing Missiles? Acquire a lock, then lob one of those suckers complete with a spendable TL plus a focus plus Crack Shot...that could splash Soontir right off the bat.

I was hoping they'd make a new bunker-buster torpedo. Imagine some crazy crap that hits like a truck and takes 2 torpedo icons so only the heavy bomber ships could take it. Like the big-rear end bombs real world WW2 carrier attack craft used in their runs.

So, how about something like this: Scimitar Squadron Pilot (16) Fleet Officer (3) Intelligence Agent (1) Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1) TIE Shuttle (0) Rexler Brath (37) Juke (2) TIE/x7 (-2) "Howlrunner" (18) Academy Pilot (12) Academy Pilot (12) Total: 100 Shuttle Bomber can pass Rexler an extra focus for his ability, Howlrunner gives him a reroll to use, Juke gets triggered by the title, providing some offense even if you get blocked or have to fly over a rock, or are stressed. Academy pilots do what TIE Fighters do and block/get shots. The bomber can even contribute here some thanks to Howlrunner.

Also, I'm half-hoping that in the potential 'Rebel Veterans' pack there will be an upgrade that allows you to turn a torpedo slot into a missile slot. It would be a quick and easy way to allow B-Wings and Y-Wings to use LRS as well.

I'm not as enthused as tractor beams as I was before because they don't do any damage and you will miss quite often against a lot of the targets you'd want to hit with one. The ion cannon is probably a bit better for the double-tap title since it does damage.

So what are currently still the below the meta ships, after considering the fixes to Bombers/Defenders? T-65 X-Wings (integrateds will be nice, but they will still suffer. They have a couple of good pilots though) Kihraxz Fighter (Talonbane is probably overcosted, the generics are alright but you'd probably still use more Zs over a pack of them) StarViper (neither the generics or ace are really all that great) Scyk (Waaaay below the meta) E-Wing (apart from Corran) HWK (still kind of crappy, but might get better with the Ghost expansion?) TIE/FO (suffers in comparison to plain TIE Fighters, might get better with the expansion that gives that crazy Juke combo ace pilot) Slightly underneath the meta: YV-666 (I still love it but it kind of suffers compared to other large ships) Lambda Shuttle (same reason as YV-666 but at least it is dirt cheap/good in popemobile combos) TIE Punisher/TIE Bomber (even with the fixes, they are still expensive if you load them up) Anything else?

The ion cannon is probably a bit better for the double-tap title since it does damage. Yeah, I definitely agree now that I've looked at the numbers. To run a 3 tractor beam list you have to run Onyx squadrons and they are going to be pretty vulnerable especially at PS 3. Onyx Squadron Pilot (32) Tractor Beam (1) TIE/D (0) Onyx Squadron Pilot (32) Tractor Beam (1) TIE/D (0) Onyx Squadron Pilot (32) Tractor Beam (1) TIE/D (0) Total: 99 View in Yet Another Squad Builder I still think it would be fun. If you can get all 3 to catch soontir in arc he is going to have a tough time because he can't risk getting hit by any of the shots so you should be able to strip his tokens with a few lucky rolls. If he gets hit by a tractor beam he loses 1 agility, and if he gets hit by a primary shot he loses his stealth device. Either way the next Defender shooting will have an easier time and the damage can snowball. I think the free evade is going to be way more important though on generics and the most efficient 3 defender build will probably end up being something like 3 glaive squadrons with TIE/x7 and Juke if the points allow for it.

Getting hit by a tractor beam will strip the Stealth Device, in the same way that getting 'hit' by Lt Blount does.

How important is Kyle Katarn to Dash? Anything I could replace him with? Got a tournament Saturday, thinking about Dash + Poe but I lack Rebel Aces at the moment. Could do Palpmobile too, but I'm not quite feeling it.

Kyle exists as a substitute to PtL and it's really your preference as to how you want to fly it. On the one hand, PtL virtually guarantees that nobody ever goes inside the hole without bumping, but it stresses Dash out. On the other, focus tokens are used both offensively and defensively. Both can go together but IMO, from the limited time I've spent playing Dashing Corran, you wouldn't lose as much if you had PtL (instead of LW). That gets around the lack of double focus better. E: Oops, exams just finished and I forgot KK worked differently than I thought he did. I remember you get double focus but thought he gave you double focus lol. In that case, you probably don't want PtL at all and just go with LW as the best defense possible without the triple action. Chill la Chill fucked around with this message at 15:36 on Dec 15, 2015 |

I like this list: PILOTS Colonel Vessery (37) TIE Defender (35), Tractor beam (1), Crack Shot (1), TIE/D (0) Epsilon Squadron Pilot (15) x 3 “Howlrunner” (18) The TIE/FOs are used for the simple reason that they have an in-built TC and getting a shield/better dial over a TIE/F is a pretty good trade.

Has this come up here yet? https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/195945-t-70-ps7-pilot-spoiled-ello-asty/ PS7 T70 pilot is called Ello Asty (hilarious name) and the ability is that tallon rolls are white for him. Opens a LOT of mobility space especially with BB8, but not good for offence or defence particularly. Has EPT.
