What? That's not why you didn't get credit. I've been halfway across a zone and gotten credit when a FATE completes.

You still get credit for FATEs even if you're not in them when they end as long as you're still in the zone. You must not have built up enough credit or things have changed regarding that.

Some of the models look nice from that renders page, I'll probably just grind out a few base relics for glamors and then gently caress off. I'd rather Thordian EX with pubbies than go through relic grinds. I couldn't even finish a book* in 3.0 to show my ability to grind poo poo.

mate, that is for the base relic

you get an i170 after turning in atmas that's just "animated [esoteric weapon]". you get an i200 glowing esoteric model after doing 10 dungeons. you don't get the relic model until after you do that massive grind.

Huh, I must be misremembering something then. It was the Enmity of my Enemy fate in East Shroud and I was the only one doing it, I stepped out when the fate finished but it wasn't marked off in my book. It was a few months ago so I'm probably forgetting something, maybe I hosed up and didn't equip my Atma instead. Lord knows I did Tam Tara undersized three times until I remembered to equip it for the boss. :v:

Shows that I need to read up more, gently caress that then. Thanks.

Giving up a zeta seems like a pretty good deal, considering I'd have given up my firstborn child to skip more fate grinding.

I had decent hopes when the next step was blitzing down some dungeons unsynced, but the next step seems unfun.

Two possibilities in that specific case, not counting "didn't do enough to get credit" (which should be a non-issue if you're the only one there) or "didn't have weapon equipped":

1. The fate you actually completed was its very similarly named precursor, Enemy of my Enemy.
2. You were doing the right fate, but it completed in failure (since the NPC has to stay alive). For book credit, fates have to complete successfully and you have to get gold.

So it looks like you can grind out the FATE crystals on any job and any level, which is nice for people that want to level alts. I'm not going to bother since I still need to finish my Zeta for the achievements and glamours, but at least it's better than the original Atmas. And the FATE trains will ride hard in all zones, so anyone missing achievements or items from any of those will want to jump on the opportunity now.

Also, Draconomicon is the best weapon name.

More to the point I was emphasizing other possibilities that hadn't been mentioned yet. Credit had already been covered, and Scrublord Prime themselves acknowledged the weapon as a possibility.

Looking into it it was #1. I did the fate where you fight Sylphs and Imperials, Enemy of my Enemy. Whoops! :suicide:

If it's any consolation, that point of confusion got a number of people back in the day. I remember more than one series of shouts about it while snoozing and waiting for one of the other east shroud book fates to spawn.

What patches were relic steps in 2.x? Most point releases had something, right? Assuming 3.2 adds a new Savage and subsequently a new weapon (215) I wonder if they'd extend the grind so quickly. Probably not, since everyone at that point is at 210 via relics or charity gobdip.

Ilvl cap 90 (weapon 95):
2.0: Relic (80), Zenith (90)

Ilvl cap 110 (weapon 115):
2.2: Atma ("100" but really 90 stats), Animus (actually 100)
2.28: Novus (110)
2.38: Nexus (115)

Ilvl cap 130 (weapon 135):
2.45: Zodiac (125)
2.51: Zeta (135)

Curse you Furuhata!
For me, the most onerous part isn't the magnitude of the grind (though I do think that's rather excessive) but the fact that they waited until half a patch before the next raid tier to shove in a massive grind. Based on the protracted delay, I had stupidly thought that perhaps some aspect of it would involve new content they had to make.

Had this been here at launch or hell, even 3.1, it wouldn't bother me quite so much.

I am both surprised and annoyed that you can't turn Brass Spoils in for the items, since they're currently pretty worthless apart from perhaps amassing a supply of tier Vs to capitalise on 3.2.

Halfway through the next Live Letter, Yoshida says he has an important announcement.

He stands, reaching toward his glasses.

He then pulls off his entire face.

It was Tanaka. It was Tanaka all along.

Here's what I wonder - will the replica zetas work for skipping the atma step too? So if I only have one zeta, will I only get to skip the atma stage once and actually do it if I go for a second relic or can I use the replica zetas and skip it every time?

it's not 800 alex nms for the full thing. It's 620 split 200 on a1 200 on a2 200 on a3 and 20 on a4. That gets you 62 unid items. You then spend all 12400 law tomes you made in the process on 18.2 unidentified seeds because a4 is by far the worst of the alex floors to pug. Have fun!

If you do a measly 30 Alexanders every day you could be done in ~3 weeks. That's only slightly more than one Alexander every hour, night and day, for 3 weeks straight. No problem.
