The roundup contaminate's the bee's noble nature, once they've had a taste for science they begin to create their own GMO's for their hive. GMO honey. GMO's cause cancer, so the colony dies of the bee's own GMO cancer.

Neonic pesticides actually gently caress with bees pretty hard. I know you guys are trying to delegitimize criticisms of GMOs, but you're bringing up an example of a pesticide that actually destroys bee hives and kills wild bee populations.

Yeah, neonics are no joke if they do what some studies have claimed.

I haven't kept up on it, but when I volunteered at the ROM we had scientists visit and they thought it was ironclad.

Neonics are insecticides. Roundup is neither an insecticide or a neonicotinoid.

If you read what I quoted, Baronjutter was alluding to neonics when talking about hive collapse. That's what I was responding too.

Ah, sorry, I thought he was talking about roundup and GMOs. If it makes you feel better, bees are statistically actually doing pretty well in Canada.

They did really well this summer. I started with the two nucs in June and they filled up two deep boxes by fall. I left them pretty much all their honey to get them through the winter, wrapped them in tarpaper, vented them properly and most importantly they did not get attacked by bears even once fingers crossed. I really hope they make it, they're the friendliest bees I've ever had, only one sting all year.

Trudeau doesn't approve of Trump's divisive politics and accuses NDP of pretending to raise minimum wage. How can it be possible to ask a guy questions for an hour and learn absolutely nothing new?

I always wanted to do beekeeping. There aren't a lot of apiaries around here and most are used for the blueberry fields in this area. Always wanted to set up a rooftop garden and just have a small hive to make some honey every so often. Also I find some of the beekeeping tech pretty interesting.

Which is why I choose to be optimistic as much as I can about his try at the government because he doesn't appear to be a sociopath and seems to honestly want to try and improve things. Whether he succeeds or does something self-defeating/obviously wrong remains to be seen.

I'm a whole lot more interested in policy than publicity. I'm still reserving judgment on the refugee sourcing issue -- I guess I can tolerate bullshit national security claims if they're being used to sidestep bullshit NAFTA obligations -- but government secrecy weighs a lot more than Trudeau is Being a Good Guy Magazine vol.11

You cant spend a decade blasting Harper for secret back room deals and lack of transparency and turn around 6 weeks after getting elected and doing the same drat thing. I dont care if its for toques or turbines, its lovely practice and leads to an increase in the practice not the opposite.
