This was fantastic man, I liked showing both the influences like Hidden Fortress and what it inspired, it was good to acknowledge both that no Lucas didn't invent the hero's journey story but he probably made the first great movie about it.

I really like YMS's stuff but I'll disagree with his assessment of Unfriended. It was a really smart, awesome movie that wasn't just a cool concept. The theme was great, the acting was natural (except for a few instances of weirdly outdated slang) and surprisingly well done and it was really well paced. His nitpicks are things I never noticed and honestly don't seem like a big deal in the least. The film's absolute biggest failing was it had a PERFECT ending all set up and then drops the ball totally and goes for a lovely horror movie jump scare. Other than that it's one of my favorite horror films in a long time.

Star Wars Ep IV built on dozens of different genres and created an innovative, fun new way of filmmaking. The other Star Wars films are based on Star Wars.

Cloud City is taken from the Hawkmen of Mongo (Flash Gordon, again) Jabba the Hutt is based on Sidney Greenstreet (Casablanca, again) the dogfights are still there, the one-setpiece-per-planet structure is still there, it's all built from the same stuff, more or less. For me horror films are probably the most interesting films to explore and discuss simply because the good ones are so few and far in between the mediocre and garbage ( I say this as a horror fan). Maybe a look at something like the original Halloween and a compare and contrast with the remake? I know Phelous sort of went into it in his review but that really seemed to secondary to jokes. It'd also be interesting for your look at maybe the French Extreme stuff like Martyrs or Inside.

I've watched some of the Lost in Adaptation review which go into the differences between the book and movie adaptation. If you want just that they're fine. Now, apparently they have been severely monitoring their social media (of course) but it's a completely different thing from Sesame Credits. That video's mostly just clickbait (and it worked since they got featured on tons of the sensationalist gaming sites.)
