I managed to make it to Nice Queen yesterday morning, right before I had to visit the in-laws for early Christmas festivities. That said, behold my result: That's a +33 win streak, which I'm pretty sure is like, twice as high as my previous record. I was with the same 3 people from Defender all the way to Queen, over... 2 hours? I kind of lost track. I think I had all of 2 losses in that time. It was nuts! Only one disconnect, too! (Thanks, LAN adapter!) My 3 teammates were all using the Splattershot Jr. I was rocking my new best friend, the Slosher Deco. I was never the top score on my team, not even once. In fact I was frequently the lowest scorer... I mean I never got less than 1,000 points, so I wasn't dragging the team down or anything, but still! Yikes, we were effective! Team Nice's loss was certainly not our fault!

I suppose that last-second inkstrike to the other team's spawn point was a little much, considering we had pushed them all the way back into it. What can I say? I was feeling mean.

Bridge idk I've learned to like it well enough. A lot of people don't pay any attention to that right path from spawn and ranked modes give you boxes to get up on the other team's and flank them.

Towers is still a terrible map but I take back everything I said about Bridge. I haven't lost a match on there since I complained about it and have gotten several dunks. It feels quite good.

Joined up another ranked game, I hear other people talking about playing, so surely everything is fixed now. Start the splat zones game, do the opening push; game cuts me off. Fortunately the game only took 3 points from me that time. Are the servers still hosed, or is it just me?

I haven't had any multiplayer problems other than the game locking up for a few minutes before Inkopolis News told me the maps changed. I don't know why but the little Inkopolis hub reminds me of Sonic Adventure.

What a mighty good man. Let's talk about splat: I just got into the game, and I'm hungry for advice on gear. Seems like ink efficiency and movement upgrades are great, and I've heard that damage and defense upgrades aren't great, but I know nothing and there's nothing really linked in the OP.

The former reduces the speed penalty for running in enemy ink, the latter removes the little circle on the ground telling the entire world where you're going to land during a super jump. It does make your jumps a bit slower to start, though. Swim speed is good, run speed is meh, all the ink saver/ink refill ones are pretty good. The most important thing to keep in mind about gear is that freshness is paramount. Always go with the gear that looks the most fresh.

Recon is quite good, especially when paired with an Inkstrike weapon (Super Jump back to spawn, look at where everyone is, and pick who's day you're gonna ruin.)

Good generic abilities (ones possibly worth taking over a slot-specific primary): - Inksaver Main - Swim Speed Up - Special duration/charge/saver (all good but saver is better for ranked modes than turf war) Niche generics: - Respawn speed (good for tower control and sometimes rainmaker) - Run speed up (good for splatling guns. Has no effect on rollers so don't bother trying there) - Ink Recovery - Bomb Range Up (extremely niche and high-level, like, 'memorize where this ability lets you throw from and to for each map' high level) GARBAGE abilities: - Inksaver Sub (technically this works alright with splash walls but I still don't think it's worth taking) - Quick Super Jump - Defense Up/Damage Up Every other ability is slot-specific (head only, chest only, feet only) primary abilities. They're literally all good except opening gambit and last ditch effort. Ink resistance up used to be the best ability in the game but then they nerfed it so it's more in line with the other slot specific abilities. Tenacity is probably the best ability in ranked now, but fashion comes first.
