I choose to believe the in universe answer is that everyone's hair is crawling with colonies of nanobots that continuously style and cut their hair to keep it perfect. Or they all just use the force to do it.

There actually is a subset of BDSM with "brats". They're usually girls who like to refuse to do things and act like a dick to their dom, which usually means more of the punishment that they really want. BDSM stuff is basically just an extension of sexual roleplaying in general.

I'm guessing Steam didn't include some lovely minigame with the sale? Earlier there were a clicker-type minigame, some weird team poo poo that I didn't get, voting for which games should be on... Guess "Buy games for low prices" isn't enough for a sale.

Eh, either way I guess I'm just going to buy Fallout 4 either way. Random Stranger posted:And though saying this is going to make me sound like a horrible nerd, the relatively small discounts and lack of pressure selling means that things on the edges of what people may try won't get purchased. Pretty much. It's a lot more calmer, actually. To be fair, I wouldn't be spending that much on the sale this year anyway due to how things worked out. So not having to bust my rear end to get stuff bought before 1pm is a godsend. It is funny to see people freaking out, however.

Getting flashbacks to nerds freaking out about how GTAV "didn't get a discount" a few months after it showed up on steam. I say "didn't get a discount" because you got the game and some free ingame money for the regular price of the game but apparently that's bad.

Trick is to just put the things you want in your wish list and then forget about them until they send you an email that they're on sale. If they're below what you wanna pay, that's awesome, if not, then just wait another six months or a year or whatever.

Valve have metrics like you wouldn't believe. They would have cut out flash sales because the data they have supports that action. If there were enough people checking constantly to generate enough impulse buys, their data would show it.

This is pretty much how I feel about it. Takes the pressure off when I see things on my list not cheap enough to afford and I know I don't have to watch them like a hawk. Though there are several games that surprise me by not being part of the sale. At all. I don't mean AAA hot new games, I mean tiny indie games nobody's heard of that are several years old and probably terrible. Like the awful looking Troma game that's apparently been around a while and I only last month found out about it for instance. I wonder if the previous model of daily deals and flash sales was really taxing on Valve's end resource/traffic wise and that's why they're trying without?

A few people are saying the flash sales are gone because people have been abusing the refund system by buying games while they're on sale for extra cheap, waiting until they return to the less discounted sale price, and then asking for their money back and getting its current price in return. That seems like it'd be a really easy fix though, so I don't know if I believe it.
