It's 1/3 him interacting with actual folks and 2/3 a fictional story about him becoming a TV-star because people think he's an comedian who never breaks character. It's not just a comedy, it doubles as a commentary on how Hitler could have been a popular right-wing politician in this day and age.

Against my will I find myself wanting to see that dammed thing. I think it is in part a reaction to the over serious and dramatic super hero movies that have been the mainstay lately. Like how Ant Man defied my expectations by not taking itself too seriously.

If it shares more than a couple characters with Kelly's run Deadpool's origin could be a big plot point for the third act.

I do like that the film has Negasonic Teenage Warhead in it because it's the most insane and best super hero name. So looking forward to seeing that and Collossus in the film.
