I guess if you spike it on 1st down, it would use 1 second and then you wouldn't have to kick off after the field goal. Of course, throwing a fade or a quick slant is infinitely smarter, but trying to spike it makes a tiny bit of sense. Kneeling does not.

Ok my theory is: They have resigned themselves to the field goal. They want to ensure iggles get no time whatsoever, 6 seconds is a chance Philly gets a second. So they spike to burn 2 seconds, but kirk cousins kaaaaaaaderps it. Is that some kind of sense?
