Okay yeah you're right that Sanders people are mostly unrealistic and naive, but the DNC is an out-of-touch brand of career politicians desperately scrambling to ride their gravy train, and their entire strategy is based on converting naive young people into fuel for their paychecks the DNC really needs a good gut punch or two but unfortunately for Sanders this really isn't the election to do it in, given that all the republican candidates are complete lunatics

The Democrats could probably run Donald Duck and win against the Republican clown car, this is the perfect opportunity to run the leftest candidate around. Not to mention, pretty much every reasonable-ish Republican I know is disgusted by their likely candidates, and the common refrain about Sanders seems to be "well, he's a socialist, but at least he's loving honest about it and means well".
