Yeah he's a literal puppet, and his face is pretty much a nutcracker like jivjov said.



The mouth looks like a slot with a wooden wheel which can rotate to simulate opening and closing, the rest are just painted lines on a wooden block like a Marionette.

Mario/Peach/Bowser is objectively the best party...but Geno and Mallow are just such fun characters. SMRPG really needed some manner of in-battle swapping, or just a 5-person battle party.

Plus half the time you get a freebie and get to keep the revive after you use it :)

Bowser was really the best though. As a kid having Bowser team up with Mario and join the good guys blew my loving mind. And it makes sense to his character, since he got kicked out of his own castle.

This was my go-to party as a kid. I couldn't beat the Axem Rangers with it, though. I was a dumb kid. :( Using Peach is easy mode. It's actually sort of boring! She's cool though. So is Geno.

Wave Race is a bit better but every time I go back to 1080 I'm reminded of how god drat rough that game is. Plus both Wave Race and 1080 got Gamecube sequels that improved them in basically every possible way.

It's also a fun and unique platformer that is very particular with its movement and very challenging. I like it quite a bit even if I'm awful at it. Shame to see it pulled from distribution.
