My girlfriend's roommate is really into Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass for some reason. Yesterday evening I went over to their house and he was putting on a Herb Alpert record, and I thought "I will never get another chance like this" so I said "Herb Alpert. Now THAT is pussy-shavin' music." It felt glorious.

I go in incognito mode for half the things I search. Not because it's porn but because most things are one off trivia and I don't need my browser to remember them or someone else to see them.

Yeah, it's a pretty old joke. I'll allow it though, if it means more Achewood. Sort of let Onstad ease on back into it. The last time he tried to do more strips, everyones voice just seemed way off, and all the dialogue waaay too tryhard.

Didn't know about the new strips until just now. Saw the Achewood thread had hit the top of the page. Figured either new strip or massive overhaul of the artisan soda paradigm. Went from "Oh, Achewood updated. " To "OH. Achewood updated. " in .05 seconds

You know, it occurred to me that Chuck Williams died (at age 100) back on December 5 and I don't think we ever did find out if he won the sapphic erotica contest and got to remain founder of Williams-Sonoma

Bongo Bill posted:Was. Yeah that strip was from the era when every other strip wasn't about their kids/the wonders of fatherhood, and when Gabe's art didn't make everyone look like a Little Golden Books character taking a poo poo. At least when Onstad was working out the complete dissolution of his marriage in comic form, it wasn't unpleasant to look at.

You love something so much, you'd rather see its pallid corpse paraded around for your amusement, rather than allowing it to end with any kind of dignity. Achewood ended long ago, what you're describing - and what any future strips will be - is Weekend at Onstad's.
