Hickman has used her well, and she was good under Bendis before that in Avengers. Her best appearances has to be at the end of Ms. Marvel though because the series had practically been building up to Kamala meeting her. She's great in Spider-Woman right now and Ultimates.

Hickman's issue where Carol and a bunch of other Avengers (who really hadn't done much in the run so far) go on a heist to an AIM casino was really good.

Beyond that, I really don't know.

People keep saying that Carol has been great outside of her own book but where? What major appearances in other titles has she made as Captain Marvel that makes people like her?

Hickman's Avengers, especially the Hong Kong issue, the issue she fastball specials the Hulk down from orbit, and she has some good stuff in Infinity and the various tie ins she appears.

The Last Days of Ms Marvel. A Secret Wars tie in. She drops some hero lessons on Kamala as the world is about to end. Very touching.

Dennis Hopeless' Spider Woman. They're best friends. It's almost like a Batgirl/Supergirl sort of thing.

She doesn't do much in Bendis' Guardians of the Galaxy, but the she has some fun interactions with the team. Especially the one talking heads gag in the annual.

That's all I got off the top of my head, but they give you a well rounded look at her character. In a serious story, she's a powerful second in command. In a not so serious story, she's the above, and she's compassionate and funny. Even if her new book isn't a huge success, she'll always be a great supporting player, and have a spot on any team.

Carol's rebrand as CM was awesome, the suit is excellent and as a bonus it once again squashed the plan to bring Mar-Vell back.

Really, they were going to try that again? He's one of the better deaths in marvel, plus I think all of 5 people actually give a poo poo about Mar-Vell as a character. Or is this more garbage like when DC undid all their legacy heroes so a few ageing fanboy writers got their favorites back?

Considering we have Bucky Barnes and Gwen Stacy running around as superheroes it will be only a matter of time before we have The Superior Spider-Uncle Ben and Captain Mar-Vell from Earth 616.0001. When, not if.

It kept popping up in the usual rumor places. Ever since the Earth X trilogy a few guys at Marvel have had a hard on for bringing him back. AT one point the Skrull version of him was going to actually be the real deal which was going to be a compromise.

We kinda already had that one :v:

Also I am very glad Mar-Vell is one of the few characters whose death seems to be permanent. Any complaints about Carol being boring or not interesting enough to warrant the attention she gets, Mar-Vell has those problems but way worse.

Agreed. The only really good Captain Marvel series from back in the past is the Peter David stuff, and those didn't even involve Mar-Vell.

David's run was very good with Genis-vell going mad, claiming Godhood and asking Thor why he couldn't be one since he has the power of resurrection unlike him, and then shooting and restarting the universe.

Speaking of... did she do anything in GotG? The Guardians showed up like... twice in Captain Marvel, but I don't remember her being in GotG at all outside of like maybe a page where she and Venom join up. Granted my memory's hazy, so maybe I'm dead wrong, but if I didn't remember the press announcement about her joining clearly, you could've shocked me by saying that she was ever a Guardian of the Galaxy. At least Venom had like one mission before Bendis dropped him on an alien world and left him for dead (yes I know they picked him up later and he's a space marine now)

She did, IIRC, about as much as Storm did on the Avengers.

I guess she did as much as any of the Guardians really did anything. Venom got an arc, Starlord, Angela, and Gamora did stuff. I just remember fondly the annual where Frank Cho is on art, and they team up with Nick Fury classic and SHIELD. Captain Marvel does the talking to the camera thing, and it does a good job of her essentially going "I'm in space. These people are weird." She was a good bridge between the Guardians and Avengers after Iron Man had to return to Earth. Does someone have that page? Groot poking his head in made me smile.

Mar-Vell needs to sit in the afterlife with Jean Grey and talk about how they make better martyrs than characters. And I'm a fan of Starlin's run, and even his original green and white retro spaceman outfit.

And let's not get started on Richard Rider. The amount of hate and vitriol that flooded Tom Brevoort's formspring/tumblr since Sam Alexander's announcement is really sad. The latest issue of Nova was a fun little romp, by the way. Nova, Ms Marvel, and Spider-Man (Miles) make a fun little group.

New issue of Nova. It was shipped this week, but isn't supposed to be sold until next week. Same with Rocket Raccoon and Groot, Howard the Duck, Amazing Spider-Man, and probably a few others.

There was no notice on the invoice and nothing on the retailer portal. It was in an email I just happened to catch when I reported our damages for the week. When DC sends out early books they have their own box with release dates stamped all over them. Marvel just seemed to not give a gently caress what Diamond did here.

They're on Comixology, also, so I don't think it was a mistake, they just decided to sell things early for some reason? They were listed in Diamond's shipping for the this week, so I found it odd I DIDN'T get a couple things Wednesday.

I really liked the Fraction/Allred FF title, i tried some of the other Fantastic Four titles but they didn't really do anything for me. I guess i am just not a Fantastic Four fan.

I still have plenty of things to read, but overall it is a bit frustrating to see the constant events and renumbering gimmicks continue since i stopped reading in 2011. But the comics themselves are good, so that is what matters.

I'm trying to read up on Storm's origin story, and according to the wiki, it starts at X-Men #102 (1976). Can someone confirm this is it - since it says 1963 in the title, but 1976 in the publication field.

The 1963 just means when that title started its run. So yeah, that's right.

Probably means that the series started in 1963, to distinguish it from any reboots or renumbers.
