I regret picking the Buster Sword because I thought those weapons were character locked and giving Cloud a bigger stick seemed the best option. I already have a 5 star sword so other weapons would have been more useful. With the new year gun and a 4 star Axe I got from a 5 mythril draw yesterday, I'm getting a bit more variety at least. Hopefully I'll be able to get the Air Knife and Aevis Killer before the event is up. And maybe a good magic stick, I could use a good one.

Any tips on Ultimate Exdeath? I feel like I should be able to best him (I've beaten Omega and most of the 120 bosses in recent memory) but he seems to have way to much health and do way to much damage, especially after I get him below half health, for me to actually win. Maybe the problem is the fact that I just have basically no FF5 synergy and I can't come up with enough damage to kill him fast enough due to that fact?

Alright, I finally cleared Melusine and I'm toying with whether to go after Ultimate Exdeath since I'm not really totally endgame-d out, I only just started clearing up through +++ pretty recently. But I beat Omega so I figure it's worth a shot. I have Kotetsu for Gilgamesh so I definitely want to bring him and Retaliate, although it sounds like there's no real point in bringing Draw Fire since most of Exdeath's attacks are either magical, multi-target, or both. Here's the setup I was planning on doing, if anybody had advice on anything obvious I'm missing before I spend the 60 stamina that would be great: Lv. 58 Gilgamesh (High Scorer) Armor Break/Retaliate Lv. 57 Bartz (SOLDIER Strike) Steal Power/Blizzara Strike Lv. 64 Terra (Vow of Vengeance) Thundaja/Firaja Lv. 60 Eiko (Mako Might) Protectga/Carbuncle (I have Golem's Flute for Hastega and more healing, and it seems like having party-wide reflect is very important for the second half of the fight) Lv. 64 Lenna (Oath of Tycoon) Curaga/Shellga Then a wall RW for more mitigation. I don't have Boon or a wall SB myself so that kind of limits my options. I could always hold off until after Sunday so I can finish grinding Tyro to 65 and try to get Dr. Mog's Teachings to drop for Lenna so I can get a Regen up right away as well.

Buster Sword isn't that bad of a pick for someone just starting out. There are better weapons, but you're unlikely to have access to them. FF7 synergy is valuable and you'd have to be an extreme whale or spend the lion's share of your mythril on FF7 event banners to not have any use for it whatsoever.Kawalimus posted:Now a question. You get a pretty steady flow from events/login bonuses, but yeah it does start to slow down a fair bit once you've exhausted the story content. From a practical POV it's probably best to spend Mythril on banners for realms you have weak synergy on, until you're reasonably comfortable everywhere and can stand to wait for better combination banners or banners with blanket great relics.

I'm about capped out - which is to say, all I have left to do is the eight elites from this latest Dungeon Update and I'll be out of dungeons - and I still get on average enough for two single pulls (so 10 mythril) a week just on daily logins, plus another 10 mythril per event. It's not unheard of to be able to do a full 11-pull once a month, even once your wellspring has run dry. Events will never stop coming as long as the game is alive, after all. e:f;b

Well that's definitely more of a trickle than I get now. Cause with logins and such fpr me right now you get like 10 a day, and I still have yet to master a lot of the early daily dungeons. And I have more or less the entirety of the "elite" tree to go. "Slower" is probably better than harder to describe it. But yeah I can get enough for an 11-pull in a week right now. So I will probably use it wisely in realms I don't have synergy on as of yet. But I have a ways to go before that becomes an issue. I'm deciding whether I should do another 11-pull in the ff5 banners before I start stockpiling.

As a counterexample, I'd hesitate to recommend spending a lot of mythril on the Minwu event coming in the far, far off future, because FF2's dungeons aren't that hard (comparatively) even in elite, and we're not going to be getting any new ones, period.

Whew, mastered Ultimate Exdeath. Took a few S/Ls and a lot of luck, but I got there. The Omega Badge and Cursed ring seem like some of the best 5* accessories for a while; a lot of stuff after this seems to be Moderate Fire Resistance or some such.

Basically, drawing on this banner gives you a good shot at making your starting characters more powerful/useful. As for the free pick at the end...that's more difficult. But you can hold off on actually picking that until later, so just do the draw and come back to the free pick later on.

I think I will gather mythril and pull on these ff5 realms before I start stockpiling because that was probably my fav ff game and like you said it's a populous and difficult realm. And I totally see why not to put a lot of mythril into stuff like ff1 and 2. I want either the air blade or the Faris bow. Of course the weapons I got were Icebrand(though this is solid, just not a soul break thing and doesn't let Faris attack from back row) and Thor Hammer. Krile rod wouldn't be bad either. So I'm gonna gather mythril til the end of this banner then do 11 pulls then start stockpiling. Just wish I was in position to do the rest of the ff5 event now, but I only just barely got by Carbuncle on the last one to get Faris' crystal. Can't you sap Ultimate Exdeath? Because I decided to bring a Blade Wing RW with me and Sap seems to eat away his HP real easy? I just gonna get Carbuncle up before <50%. EDIT: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR DUDES FULLY HEALED BEFORE YOU CARBUNCLE. I forgot and had to suffer just a bit longer through Normal Exdeath. Thankfully he killed himself before Doom on Selphie finished.  EDIT 2: Now... should I roll with the casters on the boss rush? Oh drat it of course I use a memory crystal node to get Auron above 50 a couple days ago and now his memory crystal appears right here in this new event!! But I had to because I got Auron's dragon fang blade so he became a fixture in my party instead of Cyan who I was using before. He's pretty cool. But god drat it of course this happens.

Attack Reels ball in my 100 gem!  I think this is the only character SB relic I've pulled outside of Lucky Draw. Maybe the second. Also balls are actually usable by more than two characters, unlike armguns/books/gambling/hairpins!

But yeah like I said it's not a big deal and since I haven't had too too many "pulls" yet a lot of the characters I use are going to be dependent on which weapons come in when I do the pulls. So two of the others wound up being Eiko and Vivi, the other one was Paladin Cecil just because some people said he was a good character. But other than them I really have no idea what other characters I'll even wind up leveling.

Thread, I'd like help making a decision. I'd like to pull on this event since I'm strongly lacking in X synergy, but I'm not sure which banner to do it on. My current stock of 5* relics looks like this:  (Orange background = unique SB equipment, blue background = shared SB equipment, white background = no SB equipment) (Purple text = magic/resistance/mind item, red text = attack/defense item, green text = balanced between the two)

Welp. My obligatory 100 gem pull gave me a Warrior's Bracer. I now have the poor man's trifecta: Warrior's Bracer (Protectga), Dragon Armlet (Shellga), and Mystery Veil (Medica). Maybe some day I'll get real walls and heals but I'm set for now at least.

I got junk but it was a FF3 Knight Armor that I needed to complete a Knight Armor 3++. Now I have full welfare 5* coverage on FF3, which is what I was clearing before the event went live!  Welp thats my story I hope you enjoyed it.

So far I've spent 75 mythril (25 for a one-time half-price pull with focus on Summoner specials and 50 on the 'Mog's Beginner Selection' 11+1 pull) and I managed to get one of Rydia's special weapons (the whip that lets her summon the Mist Dragon) which is awesome. I also got Krile's 5-star staff with the summon special ability. And Vivi's black robe. Too bad I don't have Krile yet, or I could switch between her and Rydia to get the 4/5 synchro.

It's worth noting that if you plan on using Ramza, you might as well have Mighty Guard Quistis over Boon Sazh anyway since Ramza can tote Full Break. Quistis isn't great though, I'll agree. She really wants a STR boost to compete with Vaan or a MAG boost to compete with Terra. Even then she's still struggling to find a good niche without the Red Scorpion.

Quina is okay on virtue of being able to Full Break and use spears, but that means s/he's just a less flexible Vaan, really. Even Strago is sort of okay in that "anybody with 4* Black Magic can be good if you put love into them" way. It's mostly Kimahri that's loving awful.
