I do have to give WG credit - I'd put credit camo on my premiums before 0.5.2 and just noticed they now come with permanent ones that boost xp gain as well as promote the preferable stat for the ship type, and replenish for free at the end of each round. The 50% xp boost sounds generous until you realize it's just the standard boost all premiums get, but I'll certainly take 'free' concealment/inaccuracy bonuses.

This is the poo poo that frustrates the hell out of me with this game and the reason I rage quit so often. I sink six ships, dunking both CV's and two of the remaining four ships are drat near dead with me lighting them on fire over and over. Our full health New York is jerking off and drives right into a full spread of torpedoes from one of the DD's I was chasing down. He's done and now I have four really angry ships that came at me guns blazing ending a good run. A full health NY and myself at half versus a nearly dead Wyo and Omaha plus the other two I cannot recall what they were at should have been able to handle this but once again I failed and can't carry. In the end I did double the damage of the next closest ship on our team and everything after that was pure unadulterated garbage.

Sometimes you just have bad teams. Don't let them get you down, find a thing you want to do, maybe have pubbies meatshield you and always expect incompetence. Relying on pubbies just leads to disappointment, which leads to raging. When I go off and end up having to hold off 5 boats by myself, sure I'll be annoyed, but I'll just enjoy the challenge and do what I can to win. Get those dank frags, forget pubbie bullshit. Now, peep my waifu. Noticeable changes with ARP mode on, getting lit on fire creates a funky black fog cloud around your ship, and most of the voiceovers are now by an anime girl instead of the normal guy. Ship kills are still read in the old voice. The match start voiceover in particular is incredibly loud compared to everything else. Also, was doing some reading on the USS Albacore, a WW2 submarine. It sunk the Taiho with one torpedo. It was Japanese damage control that killed the Taiho, pretty much. quote:The one torpedo hit on Taihō caused little concern on board. Ozawa still "radiated confidence and satisfaction" and by 11:30 had launched raids Three and Four. Meanwhile, a novice took over the damage-control work. He thought the best way to handle gasoline fumes was to open up the ship's ventilation system and let them disperse. When he did, the fumes spread all through the ship. Unknown to anybody on board, Taihō became a floating time bomb. Hazdoc fucked around with this message at 09:26 on Jan 3, 2016 |

I've citadeled both Colorados and Tirpitzes with 203s, so it's possible.Only once each, and I'm well aware they were ludicrously lucky shots. Pretty sure the Colorado shot hit right below the #2 turret, where there's actually a small gap between the turret and the top of the belt armor, and I suspect the Tirpitz shot actually hit below the belt armor, as I think he was beginning a hard turn. First instance I generally saw, but the Tirpitz I'd already turned my attention to other things when the ribbon popped up. General point is true though, as I've done large chunks of damage with penetrations to battleships. I've mostly been playing my 155 Mogami for a while now, which IS generally useless for getting penetrations against BBs, but with ships actually carrying 203s I'm not shy about unloading AP at battleships if it happens to be what I have loaded. It was the only way to fix it, especially if they had no easy technical solution for rolling people back without totally loving over 1 day+ worth of their other progress. Besides, XP in this game seems way easier to get that credits (I'm sure I'm not the only one with ships unlocked but unbought). Bummed I missed out on it because it would have made skipping some mediocre ships way easier, but oh well.

Had probably what is the most enjoyable match ever in the Hatsuharu. Played on the Trap map, headed north for C. Friendly Atago followed behind me (mistake, but whatever) while everyone else bugged out for A. I got driven off from Cap Point C by 3 or 4 cruisers and a couple battleships, taking damage from a dive bomber squadron. Determined to exact revenge I headed east before looping around an island and heading west. I fired a spread of torpedoes at a North Carolina that turned south, thereby missing by a huge margin. Oh well. Couple minutes passed and I managed to spot the enemy Independence without getting spotted by his planes. Hit the engine boost and bore down on him, firing a few shots as I went once I was spotted. Carrier tried to maneuver, but I shot 6 torps into him at 2.6km and sent him to his watery grave. Revenge extracted in full measure! By this time 3 cruisers were closing in on me - Nurnberg from the west, Cleveland from the southwest, and an Aoba from the south. The Nurnberg and Cleveland were both in pretty good condition, while the Aoba had 1-2k hitpoints. I was trapped near the top of the map and running like hell to the east. First thing I did was fire off a full spread of torps at the Cleveland from about 9km off. First spread was a tight pattern, while the second spread was loose. Cleveland was so fixated on trying to nail me that he was barely able to react before 2 torps hit him amidships and split him like a peapod. The Nurnberg broke off and headed south to try and prop up his team, which was rapidly losing steam. My team had captured Capt Points A and B by this time while losing both our Tier 6 Ryujo and Tier 6 New Mexico, but the rest were still in fighting trim and went on to sink all but a lone enemy DD. The Aoba pursued hard and finally managed to damage my engine. Just then my torpedoes reloaded, so as a final gently caress you I fired off both tubes before the final devastating blow landed and ended my participation. The Aoba, however, was not so victorious after all - the very last torpedo caught him at the stern and blew him up, repaying him in kind for his deeds. I got out a celebratory "Suck it!" several seconds before we won on points.

I can't say for sure about the higher tiers. When there are carriers in play, the meta is pretty much fighters fighters fighters. The logic of it is pretty simple. A US carrier does not have enough squadrons to stop a IJN carrier, no matter its loadouts. Therefore you're pretty much forced to go with the fighter loadout. A IJN carrier risks facing a US carrier who will undoubtfully be a fighter fit carrier, therefore also needs to go with a fighter loadout, otherwise you run out of fighters pretty fast. That's my take on it anyways. Carriers have been pretty much nerfed into the ground in many respect.
