Last year/SGDQ they had a sort of rotated "on camera" section since they weren't showing the rest of the room with the layout. I assume this back couch is similar to that and just comprised of randos or tertiary related people.

Pretty sure it's one of those things made to teach kids the mechanics of the game but is also genuinely fun. I don't think it's necessary to play for anything though.

The single player is really fun, but it's super short. It's not worth buying the game for single player alone, but it's a great way to learn the controls before jumping into multiplayer.
