It's way more standard anime voices. The English translation gives the writing as a whole some more pop but I think at the cost of making every individual man, woman, and ten year old girl into an indistinguishable slurry of MY AUGHT. Also the pawns are more flat and clipped which I kind of like because I think it fits more with them being robot zombie AIs, and their histrionics like I AM DRENCHED and TIS A TROUBLING FOE are actually quite matter-of-fact which I think is funny.

But most of the time it's just

I don't understand Japanese so I can't tell! I mainly like it for a bit more variety; I'll usually switch between the English and Japanese throughout a playthrough (always on English when with Grigori; <3 David Lodge).

Content restoration mods will only really work if the content is still there. Since this is Dark Arisen, I doubt Fly Into Free is still in the data, and Japanese audio is also likely to be stripped just to save on install size. Berserk outfits (which I don't think were ever DLC?) are more likely to still be there, just removed from the shop data.

As for console save importing, that's actually extremely likely, because console saves are actually just compressed (and obfuscated) XML files. So the compatibility between console and PC saves is likely to be extremely high.

Flying Into Free was successfully modded into the 360 version since it could easily be unpacked. Simply adapting the process for generic data replacement for whatever changes there may be to file formats should be plenty possible.

Berserk gear is another story entirely, given interaction with the rift/online components. If it ends up crashing other people's games if they aren't running whatever hypothetical mod is necessary, then I'd say forget it. Shooting for replacers would probably be ideal, and potentially not much more complex than music replacers.

I was halfway through a playthrough when they announced the PC version, doing NG+ on PC would be neat.

Yeah what I meant was more of avoiding distributing the actual track as part of a mod.

The console version already has a mechanism for handling unknown items, DLC items show up as unknown items when you don't have their compatibility packs installed. I'd assume that's still there in the PC version.

This was no joke the reason I didn't really enjoy Mystic Knight. In a game where all of the other attack animations are great and fluid, the shield thing just really stuck out for me, especially when compared to the fighter's great shield usage.

The only game worse with shields is Kingdoms of Amalur, in which your shield isn't even visible on your character until you hold the block button.

I wasn't aware of that. Very reassuring. Maybe some potential on the extreme end of modding to add completely new armor sets without loving up the rift. Assuming the best case scenario for modding, of course.

Well the obvious method around the distribution issue is an intro song override that handles a common file format, whether that's easy to implement is another story though.

While we're talking about lovely shield animations, I hate how four games in, your character still holds shields like a complete dope in the Soulsborne games. Five games, if the network test is any indication of the final product for Dark Souls III. Unless they also include a wrist-breaking mechanic I will be very upset.

That's why I only use talismans in that game. At least then, the magically (dis)appearing shields make sense.

Didn't the Q&A guy already say you could import saves from consoles? Like not through an official app, but the save files should work? It just might mess with renting out your pawn.

No that was for juggling local saves for multiple characters on a single account.

You could technically do that on the consoles too, although I thought the server would flag you as a cheater.

It's not something that bothers me enough to hack around with files to get around, as if I'm starting a new character I'm usually never coming back to the original. But I never saw the point in the hard limit of one character per account on the consoles.

PC Gamer: Between this release and Dragon’s Dogma Online, it seems like the series still means a lot to Capcom—where is Capcom at in terms of considering a sequel?

Matsukawa: Thanks for your interest in the series! The Dragon’s Dogma development team members often talk about the possibility of a sequel. We’d love to hear the opinions and feedback from players of the upcoming PC port of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, as that will increase the chances that we can look into the possibility of continuing the series.
The relevant part of this being that they don't appear to consider DDO to be an actual sequel, meaning that the door is still open for a real Dragon's Dogma sequel. Maybe they really are porting Dragon's Dogma to PC to gauge interest.

Id just about guarantee that is the goal behind the PC release. Why would they put in the effort to do all this work on a game that they've written off? It's like dmc4se. Everyone was curious when it was announced because it was after capcom had said that the American dmc would pave the way forward but since that was a bomb they changed gears. Dmc4se was a interest check and it seems to have paid off since they are going back to the classic series.
