Second one makes me feel like I've got a tree hitting my mouth and is kind of uncomfortable. That third one though, I really love it. Great play of light, awesome use of the depth of field, fantastic colors to build the mood. I'm trying to practice with my new Canon 85mm 1.8. It's hard to be so far away from something but still get such short depth on it, definitely a new challenge. Judge Schnoopy fucked around with this message at 21:29 on Jan 7, 2016 |

Same, I've been really digging the Ektar shots I've been looking through on Flickr. Think I'll buy some and see how it goes.

I had to replace Tomales II because I accidentally processed and uploaded it without figuring out it was mirrored horizontally iSheep posted:Same, I've been really digging the Ektar shots I've been looking through on Flickr. Think I'll buy some and see how it goes. Buy one roll and wait for perfect golden/golden hour warm light to use it. Try not to blow your highlights like I did. Think of it like slide film that happens to be negative. It's extremely finicky and if you/it screw up your shots (like happens most of the time I try to use it) you'll be disappointed.

(congrats!) Re: the Ektar talk, it's definitely a film that can ruin a good shot really easily. But I still loved some early shots with it enough to buy like ten boxes of the stuff, as I discovered while doing a recent freezer clean-up. If you really want to give it a shot, watch the B/S thread in a little while...

Got tired of driving by these every day on my way to work without stopping, so I got up early this morning to gently caress around with this. A little disappointed I didn't get my rear end up earlier this week when it was warmer and a little rainy. Would've been nice to get some reflective surfaces. Still hoping I can get up even earlier tomorrow and try again. Shellman probably knows where this is. Light by ryantss, on Flickr Garden of Fountains by ryantss, on Flickr Life Aquatic by ryantss, on Flickr We'll see if I can get up earlier to get a darker skyscape behind these. Side note: I checked the contest thread before heading out, so I definitely had a little bit of Wes Anderson on the mind when I snapped them. tau fucked around with this message at 22:16 on Jan 9, 2016 |

I was out at Hydropark yesterday. It's a Soviet-era beach resort on an island in the river in Kiev. It's -19°C and snowing fairly hard so the visibility is way down and everything is covered in a deep layer of snow. As you can imagine, the resort isn't doing great business at this time of year (things are still open for some reason however).
