Yiddish is derived from German in the same way that English is derived from Middle English. It's different enough to be largely consided to be more than just a German dialect but it's similar enough to be mostly mutually intelligible, at least in the spoken form.

Yiddish arguments aside, people here are apparently missing the fact that Mel Brooks wants to make a Spaceballs sequel/Mel Brooks wants to make a loving movie in 2016, which is news to me. Without Candy or Moranis a Spaceballs ain't a Spaceballs though.

"Think of the moichandizing!" -Mel Brooks My favorite thing about the man is that he seems to suffer from no mental deterioration whatsoever, and he's still friends with Carl Reiner (for 60+ years!) and Carl Reiner has a twitter account and he's basically Your Cool Liberal Grandpa.

Even without Moranis, Rivers or Candy I will give him huge props if he gets both Pullman and Zuniga back and calls the movie "The Search for More Money".Vintersorg posted:Mel Brooks will be dead within the next year.

Madkal posted:Schwartz (pronounced sh-wart-z) it also a common enough Jewish last name. Schwartz (pronounced Sh-vartz) means black, and Schwartze (pronounced Sh-vart-za) is your old Jewish grandma being somewhat racist. The pronunciation in Spaceballs is closer to to the last name pronunciation then to the Yiddush word for black. Just quickly, this is also why Michael Ian Black chose that name for his stage name. His actual name is Michael Ian Schwartz.

It's bothering me anyway.

The Muppets, its sequel, and the tv show were all good. Deadpool looks like poo poo, where all the jokes were written by Jay Leno-esque hacks. Remember Rosie O'Donnell? She's bad. Amirite, folks? *fart noise for 5 minutes straight*
