Re-flashing fixed all the hardware problems I was having on my 520 (so presumably they were actually firmware), perhaps it's worth having a look into? As to reducing the battery life quicker, stick your phone somewhere cold (yet dry, so perhaps not a fridge)?

I row, hike, weightlift weekly and took it on a 3 week vacation around Italy and a 3rd world country and... there's nothing. Maybe some minor scratches on the metal if you hold it up to the light and tilt it just so and squint your eyes? If you got Complete, a store would prob be willing to switch it out for you.

It is, but I'm willing to make the concession for everything else that it does so well for me. It's missing some other weird thing that I'd considered standard at this point too, but I can't remember what it was, lemme look.

With the latest version of the OS it is actually starting to feel like a pretty solid foundation. Haven't had a crash or battery drain issue since the last update, and some Bluetooth issues I did have appear to have smoothed out. Seems I don't have to feel as much of a fool as a deserve after all

When is the official release date for WP10? I have both my 925 and 640XL sitting on 8.1 at the moment.

loving hell the 950 has dual SIMs but the second SIM can only support 2G if the first is set to use data. I guess you can swap the data connection but who runs on 2G anymore? Seems pointless. Other than that this phone rules - very happy I got it instead of an iPhone.

Got my 950xl to gently caress around with today. So close. Still love that keyboard, even modified as it is. Everything still seems a little... jittery? Not as smooth as I remember 7 and 8.1 being. Apps, tho...

Hasn't drained out yet. Never thought I'd figure out a way to be irritated about great battery life.

Seems pointless. There's only one data connection into the phone, the other sim by necessity becomes equivalent to 2G. You should be able to switch the data connection between the sims with a toggle somewhere, at least you can with 8.1. I'm not sure what having two data connections would actually mean in practice. The problem I have is I miss calls or txt mssgs coming into one sim when I'm on a call with the other, it's not like two concurrent phones in one, more like one phone at a time.

Call it from a Google Voice number and let them "talk" to each other. Assuming you have an unlimited calling plan. And a SIM card in the phone.

The recent Groove update causes it to crash on launch. I can ask Cortana to play music and it does, but I still can't get the app to open. Is there a way to fix this without factory resetting my phone? Another thing, WM 10 always shape writes"to" as "tri." Can I delete tri from the dictionary on my device, since I never once have used it as a word on its own? I use to all the time though.

One thing I do greatly dislike about the 950XL; the buttons feel like poo poo. Very ragged, it feels likes, the edges are sharp and just unpleasant if you wrap your hand around the phone to hold it and your hand goes over them. The action on them isn't great, either. Still do love the dedicated camera button, though, that works great and takes very nice shots.

Been on Samsung-flavor Android for a while now and I can definitely say that while I like using a platform that people actually write software for I do not like how it runs like poo poo on new hardware. If I could have Android's ecosystem on WP's codebase I'd never need another phone. My 920 and my 640XL after it were both way faster and snappier at just about everything and looked better too with superior preloaded first-party software. Yesterday on the way home from work I gave my S6 Active a voice command to call my fiancee so I could tell her I got caught in traffic and held it up to my ear for a good fifteen seconds before realizing it was still lagging on the search screen. Almost got in an accident. It regularly takes several seconds to wake up from sleep and a few more to load the home screen from the unlock screen. Is this just a problem of Samsung being horrible or is Android just slow by nature?

Sounds like something isn't right. I can wake my 2014 Moto X, unlock, and be on the home screen in 4 seconds. Half that time is entering the pattern for the unlock and it takes one second to swipe up from the lock screen (if my lock is disabled) to enter the home screen.

You got Samsung'd, and if you keep the phone, don't be surprised when you stop getting OS updates and the thing gets worse and worse over time. Note that other manufacturers can Samsung you too, but the fact that the verb for "gently caress up Android with their own awful software and bad support" is named for Samsung should tell you something.

So are Islandwood and/or Astoria going anywhere? I know Android apps kind of ran like poo poo and might be canned, but I'd have thought Microsoft would be rushing the easy iOS ports along as fast as they could.

Islandwood is going ahead as it encourages devs to write apps not just for iOS but WP10 universal app as well and they will run naively. wookieepelt has mentioned that microsoft has just started asking for iOS apps to be submitted so its encouraging signs. i am under the impression that Astoria has been effectively killed off as it didn't encourage development for WP10 and the android environment was emulated, caused all sorts of issues. I also read somewhere that redmond mention that any decent apps that were on android were usually on iOS as well so Astoria was unnecessary. Hopefully Islandwood brings proper NFC payment apps.

https://twitter.com/drasticactionSA/status/688825290005544960 At this rate, I should be getting to 10,000 downloads in not too long. And judging by Azure results, about a thousand people are using it daily (meaning, for long periods of time per day, not just opening and closing), nearly all for messaging. The vast majority of the users are on Desktops/Tablets though, not Phones. The Lumia 930 is in the top ten of devices, the 950 in the top 15.

My dual-sim 950xl did that a couple of times this afternoon. It also flashed up an alert that my SIM settings had changed, and the phone needed to reboot. That was all in the span of two hours or so just after lunch today. It's settled down, and been fine since 2:30 EST or so.

I'm on my second 950, and I still can't get through a work day without charging the thing (very mild usage- three of four checks of Twitter, maybe 25-50 texts, and that's it). If this thing can't last as long as my 920, I'll have no choice but to get an iPhone. Is anyone getting decent battery life on this thing?
