Yep. Thematically, it fits :v:

I had a great game with Latts Razzi putting some good damage on the Falcon due to having it roll zero dice, and thus never being able to trigger C3PO

4-LOM with Tractor Beam seems like it would be pretty hilarious in the Kath + Palob list, since with Adaptability he can jump Kath in the shooting order at your discretion to tugboat people into better assblast angles (or just straight up crash them into rocks) and then drop the stress you earned from your lovely dial on to them afterward. Palob still strips tokens and uses them to either give an extra green die to Kath or 4-LOM with Bodyguard, or uses it to shoot out of arc. I'm not sure if it's a great list, but it could be pretty trolly.

What he said. Han is annoying as poo poo when he inexplicably always dodges two or three hits a turn. Tractor Beam makes that a non-issue.

Yeah, I'm super looking forward to Scum getting some proper stress imposition options. I'm really into the idea of scum, but I'm a dirty WAAC so I don't like the idea of playing them whilst very few of their builds are really competitive. Enter Dengar and the Mist Hunter :unsmigghh:

Also, I have to say I'm pleased with the way this wave has fixed Ordnance pretty effectively. You can do a single long range blast then not care (LRS, not that anyone will) or continuous improved shots (Chimps) and now you can move people into or so they move onto your bombs with Tractor Beams. But none of it is wildly overpowered. Love it!

I've done it, and will be doing it again tomorrow. It works, really well. My only real hope right now is a cheaper way to get a defender at PS7 with a free EPT, because Rexler is a little too expensive and doesn't have the brilliant pilot ability that Vessery does - but being able to take Crack Shot is great...

It's a 3 skill with a better dial than a B-wing, a slightly worse health breakdown than a B-wing, and it will probably have an illicit upgrade slot. 23 is probably the lower bound on that.

Regarding the tractor off the board thing, I think ithe fact that they changed the ruling before fully revealing the tractor beam is too coincidental. They probably deliberately changed it in order to prevent the tractor beam from doing just that, or otherwise it would be too strong.

I have to admit that a horde of Black Squadron Pilots with Adaptability would pretty handily own the generic pilots game.

Probably yes, but we don't know for sure how it works yet. It's been theorised a lot that its real goal is to run a fleet of generics all at the same PS to allow you to choose your movement and shooting order, and it's therefore a fix for generic and mid-PS pilots. I'm not sure I really buy that, but it depends hugely on how it works, which we just don't know yet.

Shooting first negates all potential of taking damage; Crack Shot at the same PS still invites return fire.

Ruthlessness is after the attack, whereas the Tractor Token and associated boost/br is part of the attack, so I'd go afterwards personall. COuld be good, could be bad.

Also worth noting that the boost/br is not optional. You have to take it (presumably, unless it's blocked by enemy ships).

Also, this puts paid to some extent to my thoughts of illicits that say 'take a tractor token and then'.

Although, voluntarily taking a tractor token to get a no-action not-boost/not-br would be an interesting mechanic.

Strobe posted:

But conversely Crack Shot makes it a tonne more likely to get damage actually through. I'd be a lot more scared with most lists of a swarm of black crack and a swarm of black +1PS. If going up initiative was that valuable to low PS, we'd see black VI swarms and I don't think that's something I've ever come across.

You can fit 7 Black Squads in with Adaptability, you can only fit 6 with Veteran Instincts. I'd call that significant enough to change the calculus a bit.

Flow like a

daily and nightly.
The tractor beam card says "if this attack hits, the defender recieves one tractor beam token. Then cancel all dice results."

The tractor beam token card reads "the first time a small ship recieves a tractor beam token each round"

Ruthlessness triggers "after you perform an attack that hits" (emphasis mine).

My interpretation would be that the defender recieving the tractor beam token is part of the initial attack, which is interrupted halfway through before you cancel dice results to trigger the barrel roll or boost. Once everything has resolved you would then trigger Ruthlessness.

My usual advice is that you can't go wrong with the other core set, imperial aces and rebel aces - but really, your best option is to find a local club and borrow some ships, find out what you enjoy playing, and work from there.

Use https://geordanr.github.io/xwing/ to build lists - and most local clubs will be fine with you using printouts from there in casual games as long as you have the mini, the dial, and the base token from somewhere.

Then use http://randolphw.github.io/han-shopped-first/ to figure out the most economical way to buy it.

That's possible a better argument - but I've got to say I still don't see it.

But my outlook on this is coloured significantly by my distinct aversion to running swarms; I don't think I've run a mainstay ship below PS7 yet (other than Oicunn, once or twice, and a bomber shuttle) so a black squad going from 4 to 5 would rarely have mattered.

OK, with Oicunn it might have, but in that situation I don't mind moving first, because it means I don't have to predict the BSPs' movements in order to run them over.
