the one with all the DLC was on sale for $25 like two weeks ago

I would have said yes but I've just learned that not only are there no new sea shanties included with the DLC, the crew on your ship in that campaign don't sing at all!
Going to wait for a $10 bare-bones edition, personally.

Now you know how I don't like to use the sit-down gun, but this morning we just don't have time for mucking about.

Not really; First Light is a prequel, so might spoil a character or two, but nothing big. If you haven't played an infamous game yet, play First Light first and see if you like it, Second Son is pretty similar (though still fun and different enough).

I know it's a measly $10, but "is it worth it" to get Second Son if I already have First Light free through PS+.

edit: forgot to say what game

If you liked first light at all, yes.

It's a good game and they can be played in either order, neither spoils the other entirely.

Infamous games are decent games and severely underated, and those two games still look pretty amazing for having been released so early in ps4 life.

if you know nothing of infamous, its a series of super power games, openworld, good traversing powers, a morality system (not first light) that gives light replay value usually hero side being reasonable villain side being campy bad (so funny, but the powers at least all have distinctive differences on both ends of the spectrum), these are technically both sequels to the ps3 duo, but there isn't much connecting the games overall.

Crossing media, I don't think I've come across a movie, book, or game where the prequel should be seen first. They're all written to appeal to fans of the original and include forward references that assume you've seen everything thus far. They also have little respect for spoilers and often don't properly introduce characters that are big in the main series.

Totally taking quality out of it, Obi Wan in A New Hope is awful in his vague double speak if you've already had six hours of explicit origin feed to you and three climactic reveal of Empire is bleh when you're already familiar.

I do tend to play games in release order, rather than chronological order. I asked mostly to make sure playing the newest one wouldn't make me lose all interest in playing the one before it, like some people who play Uncharted 2 before Uncharted 1.

edit: And I've played First Light, but not very much, so I guess I can just do Second Son first.

The PS3 still turns on when it's supposed to do its thing but it just doesn't do it. I get no notifications for that stuff when I turn it on, either, which is what got me suspicious.

There's still a bunch of space for saves and I just tried manually uploading them and all new saves I've made (aside from one, bizarrely) are greyed out when I try to copy them to the cloud. What's this all about?

E: Copying the saves manually one by one apparently works but for each one I get some warning about how I won't be able to download them too many times in 24 hours or something. But still, why no auto update? :(

I've had the same problem for weeks and I am not sure how to fix it. Looks like it has been affecting other people, too.

Just the ladies, now!
I just tried out Tharsis, which is basically a game of single-player-space-cannibalism-yahtzee.

You play a team of four astronauts, on their way to Mars. With ten weeks left to go, everything starts to go wrong. You need to run around rolling dice to put out fires, while managing your hull integrity, crew health, crew stress, and food. For some reason, there is a story which plays out through cutscenes which play between weeks, and so far, the story seems kinda creepy. Each crew member has their own special power, and there are a few more characters for you to unlock.

Overall, the game is okay, but I wouldn't recommend it at its current price. It's very easy to get into unwinnable situations, and it doesn't seem like anything will ever happen to mix up the gameplay.

In this specific case though, nope, and the narratives entirely from the characters perspective so there's pretty much nothing here that will be like WHOA DUDE.
Especially because they both are different characters at different points in time.

it's like

First light- Well Today I'm gonna paint my nails because burgundy is so my new color

Nah they just remade the first game on the seconds engine. The difficulties are standard game fair until the last 2, which make it so that both you and enemies die hella fast. Resources are sorta scarce to begin with so depending on your playstyle (you can stealth through lots of levels) the harder modes are actually easier since things take less ammo to kill.

It's their credit card. Their point system for rewards is glacial for the average consumer, if you're curious.
You can get reward points without a Sony/PlayStation credit card by linking your PSN account to it, but the reward rate is the same as 1% back. If you do have one of their cards, the reward rate from buying stuff on PSN with it (if they'll accept it) is the same as an additional 10% back. Most of the rewards are lame and/or full MSRP, but they do offer PSN funding and PS+ codes.

Play Second Son first. First Light does take place chronologically before it, but it will also give away story information rather than fill in holes in an "oh, so that's why..." kind of way.

Same deal with The Last of Us and Left Behind. You should play Left Behind after TLOU.
