The poor person is clearly not at his best self, best not encourage him/her further down that road. I feel like, whenever I read their patch notes, they've prioritized or fixed entirely the wrong things. It'd be like if a school bus full of puppies rammed into a subway car full of foreign delegates and the whole mess caught on fire, and the fire department showed up and changed out a lightbulb.

Well, you are probably correct in your assessment. But remember, the thought here is that the patches are not to fix things overall, but to give the appearance of work and progress. How many GBs do you all think this one will be?

When the whole thing collapses I'm hoping for a tell-all from an Illfonic employee. Even though Star Marine spent so much time with release "two weeks away," remember that Star Marine was actually playable and demoed a year before that...just think of all that wasted work.

can someone explain to me in laymans terms why they are so big? the patch notes read like they're more of coding issues, which I can't imagine is something that takes gigs upon gigs unless they're also adding assets to the game, which of course they're not. Is it just optimized trash that includes a bunch of redundant stuff for the end user or what? I know nothing about game development

They don't have a proper patching tool and any change to a file necessitates downloading it again in it's entirety. Edit: What this means is that when they add a bathroom door to a ship, they stuff it in the existing assets file. Since the patcher can't patch, the launcher downloads the entire 10gig assets file with the new door in it.
