3 would probably wouldn't piss me off if they didn't get rid of different beam types, and designed the maps so you don't run immediately into a dead end and then go power up hinting or do the "oh noooo the only way forward requires you to free the metroids" for the third game in a row

i think the worst part of 3 is that in order to discover the top secret location of the planet where the attacks are coming from you need to discover them in an abandoned space marine ship the ship doesn't have a ton of power so you need to plug batteries in to open doors and progress through instead of asking the space marines you work with for the batteries they use on their ships, you need to scavenge them from ruins across the solar system

I hope that pigeon makes good on the promise to delete all the lovely levels, it's impossible to find decent challenging classic-Mario-style levels, everything's either experiments (which are cool), automated levels and stuff clearly made by very small children
