Phlag posted:Interesting - Chris Stanley was invited to join ESD on the new show, but he turned down the offer. And when Ron was considering joining Anthony back when, Chris said that he wouldn't be a part of that new show. Is it a love of SiriusXM, a hatred of Anthony, or something else? Isn't Chris now talent for Bennington? As such, he's probably pulling down some decent pay. Too much to waste it on a lovely network that might go under in a year or two. Davey Mac doesn't have that much to lose given his gig was for terrestrial. Droopy Goines posted:Best quote : Ron knows the score. I think Dave's personality works best as a second banana to Ron, but I hope he succeeds anyway. The sketches could be good - his characters were always pretty good.

Chris couldn't give two shits about who's giving him money for his smokes and 'scripts, as long as that person isn't a devious ghoul. Anthony loving sucks, Pepper knows it, and bless him for having scruples enough to say gently caress you to that whole business. It also shows how much Ron respects the centaur bastard that he actually listened instead of going to find a new producer. I hope this is a launchpad for Davey Mac to somehow worm his way back into SiriusXM. They can never be like the old days where he tormented the original big dummy Earl, but he'd be such a nice fit for Bennington.

I met one of Ant's neighbors today. He walked into the cigar shop I manage, in town on business. We get to talking and he He mentioned that he lived in Roslyn heights, and somehow O&A came up. Apparently the dude lives in the same subdivision as Ant, just up the street from the compound. Apparently Ant's favorite Lawyer, Dominic Barbara, is a regular at the cigar shop this guy frequents at home in LI. He had no idea that he was broke.

Put it this way, if you're even just lukewarm on the idea of Dave MacDonald, it's not for you. I, however, love his antics. And also, that's funny that Creampie Jones is the producer, I always heard he went the way of Intern David where he didn't ever want anything to do with the show ever again.

Such utter bullshit "bro" stories about the 80 billion hot chicks he has hosed. He is easily the worst newer comedian that they bring in. Jim doesn't really interact with him at all when he is in. It's rather telling that Sam doesn't really bother with him for his show even though he is more in the demographic.

Just caught up on this Cumia business. Cumia will see out the end of Obama's term behind bars, just not for the reasons we expected. All he had to do was tell dick jokes for three hours a day five days a week and they would have kept paying him millions and he still hosed it up.

Ron claims to be a "movie guy" when anyone tries to talk up how good TV is now, but of all the Oscar nominated movies he's only seen The Martian (and that was this week on demand) and Mad Max which he blew off as a dumb action movie. The Revenant? "I don't like watching anything that makes me feel cold." Room? He doesn't like seeing kids in jeopardy. Spotlight? "Isn't Mark Ruffalo more of a TV actor?" The Big Short? "No more Christian Bale." Bridge of Spies or Brooklyn? "I don't want to watch something that might be a bad movie." All those are valid reasons on their own, but together it doesn't make someone a movie guy. Ron is more of a Scorcese/Tarantino guy that also watches lovely tv like Big Brother and Gotham then complains how bad tv sucks. I'd like it if Gail pushed back a little to get him to expand his viewing. God knows Hicks won't.

UncleMonkey posted:I love Ronnie B but he's a hipster. He only likes things if he thinks he's going against the grain. If lots of other people like it or it is getting a ton of praise he either hates it or blows it off. If everyone hates it, it will suddenly become the thing he champions above all else. This is the same guy that started raving about how great the Green Hornet movie was after it got trashed and bombed. He only likes to watch stuff that can only been scene if you seek out this one tiny back-ally theater in Greenwich Village at 9:30am on a Sunday for one weekend only. If it's something that no one outside of NYC has a chance of ever watching, it's the greatest film of all time. Like I said, he's a hipster. Ron's art cred was thrown into question for me this past week when a caller asked him about Scott Walker (the musician), and he was completely oblivious to Walker's solo career. Might be a small hipster-ish thing, but I'd assume anyone who is always singing the praises of Bowie/Lou Reed/Velvet Underground would have had a passing familiarity. Again, I find Ron hilarious, but I don't think he's the wizened old master of what's "cool" that he (and many fans) thinks he is.
