I have recently run into a wing/grouping problem I can't seem to work around. Over the last few days I haven't been able to see a friend in instances when we're winged up. Instead, I just see his wing beacon in place of his ship, moving around in what I presume is witchspace (alternate instance for the same location) concurrent with his actual movements. He sees the same thing for me, no matter how many times we restart or reset instances. The game refuses to group us together, so our nights have pretty much been a bust. We've played together plenty before, even after horizons dropped. He lives in Australia, I live on the East Coast, USA. Thoughts? I haven't ruled out Koalas/Dingos.

Annath posted:So, can I still dump cash at Draconis, Y/N? My anecdotal evidence is that no, you can't. There are lots of donation missions but they're all for goods. I refreshed for an hour and saw one cash mission in that time. If you're going to run goods, Tun seems like a better choice as you don't have to fly 300 LY to restock.

I wonder if the finding of the Antares wreckage and the finding of the barnacles will tie in to the release of the thargoids. The timing seems too perfect. Antares wreckage survey results indicate that they can bring a new form of travel to us. Barnacles are found in Merope a few days later..

Well finally made it to Robigo to try some smuggling, find my first mission for 3.5m. Fly all the way to the target system, interdicted immediately upon arrival at the exact same instant that I get a knock on the door from someone I wasnt expecting from another hour. Ship scanned, mission failed. That was a colossal waste of time. Two new community goals up, a bounty and an onionhead trading one. I tried using thudds trader thing and it wouldn't let me search for stations selling it. Where do you get it?

TEAH SYAG posted:How do you like the bi-weave shields vs STD? Does the faster recycle time work out better than up front endurance? Pretty sure I'm too new to know! I stole most of the build from other players, and on the Vulture I've never actually had a 'normal' shield. Because of power constraints on the Vulture, if I go to a 5A shield, I have to drop a booster, so the 5C Bi-Weave with 2 boosters is at 441MJ, and the 5A with a single booster is at 465MJ, so it's really not that much different. I've only had my shields knocked out completely once so far in the HighRES, when I took on a wing of 3 (2 ASP and a Cobra I think) but I've only been in there for a very short period of time.

Nope, I've been on that planet for a week though so when I found out the co ordinates I just flew over there. Once I was there people started showing up until the instance was full. Someone dropped a UA on the ground and then went into solo so I had a free UA. I also got two meta alloys.

In non- related news, the latest Dev Update has some interesting bits:quote:Characterisation and a more personal connection to the game world has always been one of the goals for Elite: Dangerous. It’s such a massive play space that it’s easy to feel dwarfed by it and the current impersonal contacts inside the game only enhance that perception. In an interesting coincidence I saw some lovely concept that fans had created for personalities and as part of the mission flow. This is something that we’re working on as part of the 2.1 release (as with the 2.0x point releases some of the changes will be applicable to season one owners). So NPC quest givers who are actual recurring characters (LFT 123 Butts Party will always have the same person giving out lovely courier jobs or w/e) and Mechanics who are part of the ~loot and crafting system~ which we know nothing about yet. It's cool that they're using the tech behind the Commander Creator to do something I actually give half a gently caress about, though E: And slightly more hype overall regarding what I'm pretty sure is the 3rd or 4 overhaul of the mission system, not sure why it was so loving difficult to do it right any of the previous times but here's hoping. The Conda is good for one particular thing: Sick nasty jumps from its rear end. Aside from that it's just a source of rare materials from respawning cargo racks, although Frontier being Frontier, some of those cargo racks levitate: I also got this shot: The Meta-Material is the weird seed looking thing. You know, if I was a space-borne creature and I wanted space-travelling creatures to take my seeds around (like Space Bees) I'd make them valuable too.

Aww yeah, sounds like poo poo is starting to go down. How long until full-scale Thargoid invasion, I wonder? If I was running it, it'd go like this. They'd probably start with the occasional scouts that jump away from you as soon as they're interdicted, so you can't get a good look at them- maybe even optical cloaking. This happens only a few (<5) times in scattered regions both inside and outside the bubble. UAs become slightly more common, but still rare. Then a single lone player outside the bubble is decimated by a Thargoid warship, but catches it on video. Hundreds rush to that system to see, but the Thargoids are nowhere to be found and people accuse them of faking it. Then...nothing. No news for almost three months- no scouts, no warships. Barnacles and UAs stop spawning or spawn very rarely. The Pleiades return to their normal traffic level, save a few hopefuls who keep looking. In mid-September, all hell breaks loose. The station in Maia is obliterated, killing everyone onboard. Players rush to the system and are interdicted and incinerated by a Thargoid armada the instant they exit hyperspace. A heavily armored Cutter brute-forces its way to where the station was, only to find a debris field and wreckage. In a panic, the Federation and Empire mobilize for war. Over the next several days, surgical strikes take out stations in Eravate, Sol, Achernar, Vega, Sirius, and more. Any player opposition is utterly crushed. From then on, player response dictates the progress of the war.

^^^ this sounds a little heavy-handed; I think that would be pretty cool, but imagine the reaction of the brown sea to being obliterated straight away by a much superior force against which they can do nothing... especially after a year of the game being a little bit too unchallenging unless you wanted to actually be in danger. People are finding a shitload of those things. Aethernet posted:The Meta-Material is the weird seed looking thing. You know, if I was a space-borne creature and I wanted space-travelling creatures to take my seeds around (like Space Bees) I'd make them valuable too. This does not bode well. And I'm very, very happy. Will be kitting out my Cobra Mk III with some weapons, an SRV, and come join in the fun tomorrow (if there's still fun to be had and not Thargoid-y death, in which case I'll kit my Python ) TorakFade fucked around with this message at 22:09 on Jan 14, 2016 |
