I'm trying to get a feel for the system requirements and could use some help (not super computer literate here, as I mostly play games on PS4 and haven't had a gaming PC set up in like a decade). My new laptop is a Dell XPS 13, and even though it has an integrated graphics setup, it runs Enemy Within beautifully and meets all the other requirements for XCOM 2. The specs seem pretty lenient, but I don't know how bad the integrated graphics is gonna hurt me. Should I have hope that this will work, or am I gonna be screwed?

I'm playing Xcom enemy within on classic again and I was drunk last night so I forgot to check my research. I could use some input: I have skeleton armour at 12 days away (from 18-22 days or so when I started it) and literally all I've researched is meld, then the beeline to carapace armour. Should I carry on with skeleton or should I abort it for now and go for beam weapons? I'm about halfway into month two. My enemies so far are crysallids, thin men, squid stealth robots and floaters. I'm about to do The Train Mission though so mutons are in my immediate future. Beam weapons are maybe 22 days worth of research away. I've played the game a lot and beaten it on classic before. edit: I didn't even research whatever you need to research to get scopes or the foundry. Those are only like 3 day's worth of research. redreader fucked around with this message at 03:35 on Jan 16, 2016 |

You might struggle to run it with integrated. It's well below the minimum spec for graphics on XCOM 2. But it's not so beyond the pale so at least give it a shot.

Badly, but the XPS 13 is a pretty powerful machine with very nice integrated graphics. buy it on steam and refund it within the two hour window if it doesn't run.

Find your integrated card on this: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html and see how it stacks up, but integrated will probably have to run at minimum settings and a lower resolution. For reference EU was optimized for the 360 / PS3 which were around the power of the 8800 on that chart and had CPUs that were slow compared to desktop processors of 2012.

My system runs EU/EW with Integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 which is several tiers below the minimum spec for that game, although it's definitely on minimum settings.

Since we lack Vahlen's "enhanced interrogation" *cough cough* techniques we're now forced/allowed to suck intel directly out of the enemy's delicious brain-meats on-site Also, that percentage better drop as the target loses HP. An 84% chance to fail sounds about right for an Arc Thrower hitting an enemy over 3 HP, but at the same time sucking intel's gonna be a very high risk preposition if you always have a 75%+ chance to fail and take feedback damage. Well, you are jacking into their skulls I guess... I figured it'd be a bit more Skull Gun/implant on your own guys not applying directly to the aliens' skull.

Once I get decent armor, it's gonna be skulljack city (bitch) whenever I get single enemies alone, or to end missions. Long as I don't actually wound my troops, it seems like a hell of a cool thing to do.

Nope. If you don't want to be spoiled, probably don't read the threat about the game that hasn't been released yet, because (even if I can't speak for everyone) I'm sure as gently caress not going to spoiler tag anything.

Speedball posted:...I honestly thought it would just be another Arc Thrower, not THAT. Wow. Or train your rookies for it by mopping up at the end of missions, or using it on enemies you want dead now with a better chance to hit than with rifles after a double move. I can see lots of utility for it, even despite the damage chance for inexperienced units doing it.
