Do the DLC (?) items that buff certain skills just change them into better versions that can be acquired later, or completely replace them? Blink strike went from a little DMC Stinger to a massively damaging 90 foot charge.

I wanna be a Magic Swordsman. What starting class will be best prepare me for that playstyle? I know that, stat-wise, I can hop around and get stat growths from any ol class, but as far as playstyle which is most similar to Mage Knight or w/e?

Magic doesn't seem to be working properly on left click/square (dualshock). Is there a fix for this? Setting the spells on the other two available keys works but I'm stuck with losing out on two spells I could be setting on alt/ctrl left click.

After maxing strider and magick archer I wanted to play as a warrior for a bit to get that 20% strength augmentation, and maaaan, you sure can cause some drama with that big stupid sword. I was running around near the quarry and bumped into a chimera and just took pieces out of the thing. Probably helps that I've had gryphic victory chilling out in storage for just this occasion. One thing I like about this game is that its constantly surprising me. Maybe its because I had fairly modest expectations of the game beyond "oh I hear this has fun combat" that I am impressed by certain story beats, the size of the world, the scale of a set piece, etc.

I came to epiphany today that I'd rather share my travels with a battle-hardened nun than a fat viking, so, impatient for the metamorphosis item, I restarted using the hard mode trick and Sister Repentia was born. Those who may have used Skald, fear not - Repentia is everything he was but with twice the stern discipline. Evil withers under her disapproving gaze.

I got the Easy Kill skill. Incidentally, I feel the game is really clicking with me now. But how do I get a store's inventory to upgrade? I'm in the city, the king has his lackey out giving me jobs, and I haven't seen any new items in a while now and I'm at level 22 or so.

Capn Beeb posted:I got the Easy Kill skill. also, there's a few quests that give you idols. The two main merchants (madeline and the masterworks all guy) will have a short sidequest where they ask for them, and giving one the gold idol will expand their inventory by a lot. You have to use a real, not forged, idol, and you can only get one per playthrough, so pick whichever has the most gear you like and give them the gold, and the other the silver. I don't know if they fixed this bug for the pc version, but on NG+ it should unlock the full inventory for both as soon as you get to gran soren.

I just discovered the "Queen's Clothing" equipment in my storage, and immediately realized why it seems 50+% of the pawns I see for summon is wearing it, it blows any other equipment I've seen so far out of the water. I'm a bit sad they added such an immensely powerful piece of equipment as a DLC item, but eh, at least I'm not forced to use it.

Open the windows game controller settings and view the details of the controller and see if it reports any buttons being pressed when you click the sticks. Phew. Took awhile, but managed to get every non-board side quest done (except for one at the very end). Made it to level 45, and sitting at the last stretch before dragon. By the way, if anyone is using Rowsdower, going to change him back to fighter at 51, so he can actually tank again.

As I usually do, I haven't been paying much attention to my pawn until I get relatively established when things like Chimera/Cyclops start to become trivial. Anyway, my pawn is basically going to be a ranger forever, so I checked the inclinations, and Scather/Acquisitor. Figured whatever, she's actually constantly using her bow and skills. I've never seen her climbing on anything. But apparently Scather is "bad" for Rangers because it supposedly encourages the pawn to get into melee combat, but honestly, my pawn's being doing great. She'll sit a little ways behind me, shooting through magick cannons. I don't think I have ever seen her climbing on anything. What is going on? Is this one of those instances where player behavior superseded pawn inclinations? Maybe just how scather is working absent monster knowledge? I'm hesitant to gently caress with anything using elixers, because right now my pawn is working out great for me. I'm just curious, because I'll be picking up some more augments from other classes soon, and it would hard suck if when I set the pawn back to ranger and it never uses it's bow again.

Turtlicious posted:Is this game worth 30 US? Steam says yeah, but Steam also says That titty anime #5 is the Mein Kampf of Gaming. (And for some reason that's good.) This game is worth a lot more than that. It's a phenomenal, inscrutable, hosed-up romp unlike any other game out there. People make analogies to Dark Souls, Shadow of the Colossus, and Devil May Cry. I like it more than all of those. I've played the game for hundreds of hours over the years across various systems. And today I found a cave I've never noticed before. Also, I heard monkey noises in the northern forests for the first time yesterday. The game is relatively small - you can plow through things relatively quickly, and the infinite fast-travel option is always there - but the details are immense. When you make your character, the length of your torso matters. It's insanity. Dark Souls is more polished, with a much tighter set of animations. Dragons Dogma is like Dark Souls' younger, wilder cousin. Dark Souls be all serious, studying every night and making the bed with squared away corners every morning. Dark Souls is the captain of the lacrosse team, and thinks there's plenty of time for sex after he gets into Dad's alma mater. Dragon's Dogma watches the sun come up the day before the SAT because it just dropped acid for the first time with a Mexican hooker and a one-eyed bartender named Snake. Dragon's Dogma disappears into the woods every few months with nothing but a knife and a flint, and comes back with stories of meeting the devil. I've also been awake playing this game for a while now because insomnia, so, uh... it's good. It's good.
