It's something he brings up every now and again "bloo a bloo bloo I don't want to pay taxes that will still leave me with six figures!!!" That time he didn't threaten to move away but said he'd quit his job. "Well if the left gets its way taxes will be so high I'll be under the poverty level if I keep doing my job. I mean I'm not doing that. I'll quit first." Granted I've met relatively few people that actually understand tax brackets and it's for whatever reason hard to explain it. Granted I've also met people that just went "no they'll change it! They will! It will quit working like that!" It's like...ok, so let's say the brackets are at every $25,000 dollars and they start at 0% and go up by 10%. $25,000 of your income never gets taxed. That's basically "this is what you require to survive." Everything between $25,000 and $50,000 gets taxed at 10%. So if you make $30,000 that isn't 10% on overall it's 10% on $5,000 so that's $500 in taxes. If you make $50,000 it's $2,500. Woo. OK, so what about if you make $60,000? Well, that's $2,500 plus 20% of $10,000 which is $2,000. Grand total is $4,500 which is most certainly less than the 30% that people expect at that level. 30% would be $18,000 which $4,500 is significantly less than. In this case though all people would hear is that there is a tax rate of 90% somewhere and ZOMG!!! I'll be that wealthy some day and don't want to pay that!!! News flash: you loving won't. First off you won't be that wealthy and second off in the off chance you ever are you won't ever be paying 90% of your income total.

The rejoinder to this is that there were many more tax loopholes back then so no one actually paid that tax rate. Whether that's true or not, I don't know.

Yea, and there were still rich people back then. Not as many Billionaires, though I think if you adjust for inflation there would have been. They love to spread the idea that if taxes are high, there's no incentive to work harder. Though There really isn't a reason to work harder because raises and promotions are practically non-existent so you're just working harder to increases profits and productivity so the top guys can benefit. At beast you get to keep your job, if you ask for more you get the wonderful "you're lucky to have a job! Do you know how many people would love to take your job???".

It's deliberate.

So Benghazi update. Film itself wasn't bad. Poor man's blackhawk down. There was a few shots directed at the US gov't but they seemed to be purposely made vague. They made the CIA director look like dick. so...uh...Vilerat Yeah his scenes are tough to watch. They show him just casually playing a first person shooter and going "haha! got you fucker!" or something to that effect. Oddly enough they show him doing this while the militants were beginning to make a move on the gate. If I recall correct, wasn't he very much aware of them and posting here while this was going on? He's kind of portrayed being a bit mousey when the attacks go on which really didn't seem to come across as the type of guy he was around here. It was very sad and hard to watch regardless. Especially the scene where it's shown how he dies. Also bonus? Got to hear from my Dad how Obama apparently destroyed the middle class. "He got what he wanted! He wanted to be like Europe. Well we're like europe!" Also lower gas prices are apparently bad for this country because people are using the savings from them to pay back medical bills. None of this makes any sense. But I guess when your source of news is Fox News, WSJ and Rush? Welp.

At Air Force base abroad, AFN showing Fox's Five. Oh god what exquisite pain. Is the black guy the show's Alan Combs-esque token liberal who gets shouted down because he's so very clearly anti-American what with his statements of fact? Some host was talking about how the Benghazi movie was so amazing because it was built to break apart Hillary's lies and my god, if smugness were geology the host would have been the white cliffs of dover. Radiant, effusive smugness. I don't know how people can watch that show and not just feel gross and slimy. The idea that people can agree with the presented opinions is terrifying.
