My fondest hope is that Cruz gets the GOP nomination and Trump runs as an Independent like he said he would if he didn't get the nom, and they crack the GOP vote right in half.

He's not depicting anyone as being at fault in that cartoon. I'm sure he thinks some one is, but he probably more blames the town of Flint itself or the EPA than Snyder or the policy of emergency managers. Judging from the fact it's tagged "Barack Obama", and no one else, pretty sure that's the case. I guess it'll be more obvious if/when he does another one or does one about Detroit. He's super invested in winning this and Trump prides himself on always winning. He's also the kind of guy who has shown he is willing to do anything underhanded he can to get what he wants. Currently, he has no endorsements, the GOP owned media is out to get him, and he is polling in double digits and has been for most of his campaign. I can see him rationalizing this out to not being treated fairly which always leaves him open to run on a third party ticket. I will be surprised if he wins the GOP nomination but I would be even more surprised if he doesn't run third party after losing the nomination.

I can see him rationalizing this out to not being treated fairly which always leaves him open to run on a third party ticket. It's also a week from Iowa and he is leading the polls with no rival in sight. He has good odds to win both Iowa and New Hampshire and from there he can build on momentum. Trump is probably going to take the GOP nod. There's also "sore loser" laws that prevent him from getting on a third party ballot if he gets as far as a GOP convention (which is likely if he has early momentum, even if he does lose out later on in winner take all primaries) I also refused to believe that Trump would take primaries but since Cruz crashed there really is no candidate who can challenge him. Cruz is dead, Carson had his moment, JEB, Rubio Christie, and Kaisch are establishment and are barely polling above 10% in the best of their polls. Trump shouldn't be this popular, but his opponents are so loving bad that they cant help but gently caress up. Trust me, I would love nothing more than for a whiny Trump to take his ball and split the vote but it really is not happening. I doubt he will win the presidency still but at this rate I would not be surprised if he squeaked it out. EDIT: Not My Leg posted:This isn't technically a political cartoon, but John Kasich just tweeted out this incredibly specific attack image.
