I also could easily have been overleveled, if anything got in my way I fought it outside of a few areas. (The highlands.)

Cake Attack posted:yeah endorph, screw you for having a hard time with a boss Nah, it was more in response to bringing up they're playing on hard to somehow seemingly refute the suggestion about using arts. Possibly being underleveled or not really realizing arts can actually be decent in certain circumstances are perfectly understandable reasons though. The stuff regarding AT-Delay was pure advice - trying to do so to bosses very quickly becomes a basically worthless waste of time. Hell, attacking the small spiders actually has multiple benefits. The boss wastes turns bringing more in, and killing them, especially with Rean, helps recharge CP gauges. You also get a Flame Tongue quartz earlier in the chapter, which is extremely good against the spiders.

I remember that tactic with the spider being something of a mixed blessing as they somehow always immediately squeezed two turns in when they spawned more enemies, one to get back another set and one to attack you into wasting a turn healing and rebuffing. But then again I was playing on hard so .

I'm coming up to the end of Cold Steel, and I've heard people say that the Nightmare difficulty is balanced for a New Game+? Is that true even if I import levels from my previous file, or is it just the extra master quartz/items that help?

Buffs make a tremendous difference. I noticed that when fighting the ILF dudes that if I didn't have the defense up buff at 50% on, say, Fie because she's twice as fast as everyone else, she'd eat it and everyone else would be standing. I may have overleveled as well mostly because I ground for Septh Masses whenever I'd clear a schoolhouse floor. Just run to the end, heal, then run back to the beginning and then back to the end again. The final boss on the final floor of the schoolhouse didn't even get to take a turn of its own thanks to how much AT delay I poured into him with Fie, Laura and Rean. Emma was basically just there with the Moebius Quartz to throw stat foods at the group. The only reason I didn't get Unscathed is because Rean whiffs a lot for me and he got countered a few times. I'm going into Nightmare at level 69 (thanks to the 3 pom baits) - will anything other than bosses even give me trouble til the end of the game? I still need to finish my bursts/rushes trophies.

also, question about late-joining party member What is Millium even supposed to do? She's sort of set up like a tank, but her HP is actually kind of low, and her STR is high but not as high as Laura. Her S-Craft is ridiculous, but that's about it.

I only need like 5 more bursts and 30 more rushes so we'll see. I need to finish the art cancel trophy too but it should be cake there. That spoilered character seemed good to me because one of her crafts causes Faint with a high %, and another causes offense down. She has yet another that makes her invulnerable so she becomes a pretty reliable counter tank. I just kept her STR really high and she always performed for me.

Finished Cold Steel yesterday. I got roughly 50% of my guesses right, which is actually above average for me so I'm going to credit my successes to paying attention during this game and the trails in the sky chapters. Spoilers for the whole game follow. I deduced that Sara was a Bracer and Sharon was an Enforcer right away. The game starts dropping hints pretty early on but, especially for Sharon, it would be hard to guess without knowing about the society beforehand and Cold Steel gives you very little to work with in that regard. I expected Millium to be the traitor, as I am still going with Olivier's assumption in SC that Osbourne is a bad guy. In hindsight, I feel pretty silly that I didn't interpret the hints correctly during chapter 6. I remember thinking that Crow would have to be pretty exceptional to escort the miners on his own and survive a cave-in. When I learned that Crow had gone to Heimdallr, I just assumed he was going to appear at the chancellor's side during the speech and possibly be revealed as an Enforcer. Yes, we know that Ouroboros is collaborating with the ILF but I thought Osbourne was in on it too and just using them to further his own goals. The C thing only clicked when Millium said that Crow had won this round. It wasn't all bad though, it allowed me to be shocked alongside class VII. My hypothesis about Rean having a secret demonic side seems to have been off but not as much as it could have been. I'm assuming Loa Erebonius was that power manifested and that didn't look like a benevolent entity, although it could be a neutral one. I was a little disappointed with how little everyone's favorite phantom thief apparently did in this game but I was glad to learn that he's still active. I guess at least he did drop the hint about Sara being a bracer pretty early on and he also told us that Clotilde is an Anguis, which probably didn't make much of an impression on anyone who hasn't played TitS. I ended up liking most of the protagonists. The big exceptions for me were Emma, for reasons that would need spoilering, Machias, who never really recovered from his first impression and Millium. So I guess I'll be waiting for CS2 now. Thankfully we shouldn't have to wait that long. Death Priest fucked around with this message at 08:00 on Jan 23, 2016 |

So I am playing through the Ys series I have play 1,2 Origin and Memories of Celceta. I'm about to do Oath in Felghana but I've noticed that the PSP version actually has more features then the Steam port. So I want to ask, would it be worth it to rebuy Oath on PSN if I already own it on Steam?

I've spent the last ~2 1/2 months playing through the entirety of Trails in the Sky FC and SC, and then spent most of today reading this thread to learn more about the series and read others reactions to it. Both game's endings left me emotionally gripped in the palm of their hands through 3 AM, and I can safely say I'm going to have that nice "Good game" feel for a good long while now thinking about them. I think the FC ending > SC beginning transition was especially engaging. During the flight back to Rolent before the prologue even began, I felt a very deep level of sympathy for Estelle. When Kevin started hitting on her, my only thought was "IT'S A GOOD THING YOU BELIEVE IN ANGELS, FATHER, BECAUSE ONE OF THEM IS GOING TO TEACH YOU HOW TO FLY RIGHT OFF THE SIDE OF THIS SHIP BECAUSE NOW IS NOT. THE. loving. TIME." Kevin still grew on me as a character but I still rarely used him partially from that first impression, but moreso from the attachment I had for the characters from FC still. Trails FC and SC are going to be games I look forward to introducing to others, it's just such a drat shame a 100 hour+ JRPG is a hard sell in this post steam backlog world. Sadly I don't have any Sony consoles for Cold Steel yet.

If I find other vita/psp games I really want to play I'll consider it, but for now I'll at least hold off until the sequel is released. For now I'll just grab the soundtrack(s) to show more support. I was kind of surprised PS3s aren't super cheap yet, I wonder if their prices on those will drop much more as everyone moves on to the next gen.
