History Respawned is a channel dedicated to showing game play from recent games while the host (Bob Whitaker, a history prof.) discusses the accuracy and implications of the setting, stories and environments of those games. His guests are specialists in the historical period of the game setting, most of them professors of history and sociology. Subjects have included Assassin's Creed, Fallout 4, Papers Please, Diablo 3, Never Alone, etc. All the videos are about 30-50 min long and pretty informative. Videos appear about once every 2 months.

I'm not sure if it is internet criticism but its definitely intelligent, informed opinions about video games.

That sounds interesting, but the link you gave goes to a dead end.

That sure was a thing we watched! And yes, Bryan Singer is partially responsible for this.

I just watched the ALIENZ one, and have two observations. I'm not sure why Eyebrows is French - I'm assuming it's something to do with the fact that there's a billion characters you had to have voices for so he's just French? Not a criticism, just wondering if I missed something where he said he was French or did something stereotypically French (which, being Baywatch, would be him in a black beret and stripey top eating a baguette while riding a bicycle.)
Also Kelly Slater is definite proof that there are some people who just can't act, which is something that I never really understood to be a possibility when I was younger. The answer to this question (not counting MST3K level not-quite-real-movies) is The Nutcracker 3D, otherwise known as The Nutcracker: The Untold Story.

"Worst movie you've ever watched" is a much easier one than "worst movie ever." For me it's a tie between Ben & Arthur, and Windows (which is definitely the worst movie made by professionals who should have known better. At least that I've seen.)

IIRC, he's randomly french in his first episode and then it never comes up again.

David Charvet (who plays Eyebrows) is French, so occasionally in his earlier episodes he'd say some things in French. In the ep where his dad ignores him for a typewriter, he has an argument with his mom in French, and I added silly subtitles. I originally did a surfer dude voice for him, but I thought the French one was funnier so I switched to that. And yes, I have a million characters to voice and a severe lack of vocal range.

Any sort of "worst movie" discussion, though, has to set boundaries, 'cus there's a lot of different kinds of bad out there. Like, The Sarkeesian Effect borders on the worst film technically possible, but it's also completely unwatchable. Then there's stuff out there like Food Fight, the Golden Films Disney knockoffs, and the like. Then you get to full-budget professional films with talented actors that are just so WTF with bad ideas that your mind reels, which is where your Nutcracker 3D, Ultraviolet, Pan, Delgo, and the like fall. Oh, and once you open the door to faith films, all bets are off.

Jay and Bob's GCM (along with many other heinous options) is only DQ'd for me because I was using the criteria of "theatrically released movie that had some measure of studio backing or distribution" aka "a 'Real' movie" inasmuch as you can narrow that down. Narrowing it down that much, I have to stick with Nutcracker.

But yes, Jay and Bob's GCM is definitely up there with worst viewing experiences.

Darth Walrus posted:

Ha ha, I didn't review it, my fiancee and I just watched it on bad movie night with our bad movie night twitter crew. For reference, we've at this point watched hundreds and hundreds of awful movies over the course of three years and counting. Nutcracker still barely tops the list for pure nauseating pain quotient, unless you count Jay and Silent Bob. For the most part, we try to only watch professionally made bad movies rather than your Food Fights or Manoses (though we've watched both of those too) just because we find them more interesting to delve into in terms of what went wrong and why. With homemade shot-on-video disasters, the answer's a little easier: it was made by incompetent creators and not really meant to be seen by many people. When you get to stuff like Pan that is just mind-blowingly terrible, but was meant to launch a franchise for mass audiences and cost many millions of dollars to make, it really sends your brain a-churning.
