I don't know how to share videos from my phone from facebook but I just saw one where a dude is in line at a fast food restaurant and says "hey I'm active military, do I get a discount?" And a woman goes "ugh that's so much privilege, thinking because you're military you can ask for such things" then the guy says "it's not a privelege. It's a discount. Privelege is not having to wake up in a battlefield to ensure freedom for the rest of us" or some poo poo like that. Then he apologizes to the cashiers if he's offended them, and the person behind him pays for his meal. I nearly lost my eyesight from how hard they rolled. It's been a while since I culled my old an-cap fraternity brother's facebook page, lets see what he's been ranting about lately. We have "enviro-nazi's" and environmentalism being a religion.  Some nice opinions on pay equality  Lol, "DEMOCRAT UNION THUGS!"  A snow storm being equivalent to Flint's poisoned water  Dude is still salty about the SCOTUS ACA ruling  That same old "Obama no like guns? WHAT ABOUT SECRET SERVICE?!"  I think my favorite bit with this guy is that in between all of these posts on his page are rants about how Verizon keeps dicking him around with his phone plan and that they'd better give him what he wants. I'm always tempted to give him a "hey, it's a free market, go with a different phone company  " but then I remember that it's not worth it with this guy.

It wasn't a forward or Facebook post, but my Libertarian friend (who works in a union, loves government stuff like libraries and public campgrounds, turned 40 this year and barely makes enough to live on) came over this weekend and I finally pushed him to describe his political beliefs. He has backed Trump in the past ("I like that he speaks his mind!") and we were nervous that he was totally fine with all the recent rhetoric. Thankfully, he expressed his disappointment in Trump's campaign direction (though we aren't clear if he disagrees with the underlying message) and vowed to vote McAfee. He got very upset when someone used the phrase "throwing away a vote" when describing third party candidates. He also confessed he thinks the government should have no part in the medical welfare of its citizens, and some people should just die if they can't afford medical care. He was understandably wary to express his opinions and waited for the rest of our group to head home before sharing some of these idea. Its kind of mindboggling that a dude on the cusp of poverty seems ok with the rich being healthy and the poor dying off. I started to describe my own opinion about all the morons with subprime mortgages losing their homes in the mortgage crisis, and he actually started defending them by saying "well, people didn't KNOW they were going to default" when they took out the loans. Needless to say I am as confused on his positions as ever. His girlfriend of 4 years confessed they simply don't speak politics in private and she described herself as a socialist, which is just fascinating. I hope I didn't open a can of worms for them! She also accused my friend and his libertarian buddies of being liberals who didn't know it yet. It was a fun afternoon.

Plus, as usual for "We have money for X but not Social Security", refugee funding IIRC comes out of the general budget, while SS is limited to the Social Security Trust Fund, and while the country has enough money for both, getting that money into the federal budget would require raising taxes, which I'm sure the person who posted that would be quite happy to pay.
