Annie is living out most nerds' PE fantasy.

I see school life continues as usual. I mean, even PE with the younger kids? That's just silly.

Well at least it's not half the school, but good to see Annie still has her fire powers.

Good thing it was a ball that bumped into her, and not one of other kids.

I think most teenagers with fire powers would do the same. Nothing strange here.

Like most people who went through hitball, you could say she's a little burnt out.

I too would be scared of a big dumb giant coming to my class who can also burn hitballs with her mind.

I like how the placement of the second speech bubble makes it look like it could be either Big Dumb Giant Annie or Fire Elemental Annie talking. Or both!

well I guess despite the battle against dad having been won, annie is still kind of on a downward spiral of isolation from humans and negative emotions

I love ether Renard. He's so pretty. Ether Ysengrin, too, for that matter. And I love the two Annies kneeling and looking at each other. Great poses and expressions in this chapter.

Looking at the page again, it looks like Renard is moving over to occupy the same space as Fire Annie in that last shot. I wonder what kind of etheric trickery they're working on to teach Annie better self-control. Also, I'm glad things aren't just magically better now that the stone is gone.

Acne Rain posted:well I guess despite the battle against dad having been won, annie is still kind of on a downward spiral of isolation from humans and negative emotions Well, she got Renard back and reunited with her fire self, but she hasn't been put back with her classmates, and presumably that mean she's still living in that white room with high ceilings rather than with her friends. (Although at least she's presumably not still confined to the court, unless they want Coyote to knock over more buildings.) Her dad caused a lot of damage in one day, but it can't all be undone at once.

It may be implied here that, with her blinker stone, Annie may have been only band-aiding herself with respect to her temper and identity this entire time--even before Anthony Carver came back. I think -- THINK -- this is the first time she's actually dealt directly with her fury on a daily basis. Have we seen her short-fuse zap people and things like this before? Operative word there is *short* fuse. She's been mad before, but it's always been a build up.

It's probably just that she's not in a great mood lately.

Renard looks like his snout is too small. Like I should either be recognizing it from a different perspective or he's got some pomeranian-grade floof goin' on when he turns toward the camera. It just looks shrunken to me.Colonel Cool posted:It's probably just that she's not in a great mood lately. She deals with her anger by avoidance and cold shouldering, even after she exploded at Renard she ran away. She does feel her temper, though, and lets it fester. Jack even calls her on it in the chapter where they all sneak out at night. She's still avoiding a lot of the root of her anger. She's mad at her father, she has a right to be mad, but she's still not actually addressing it, and misdirecting it at things like volleyballs. And thanks to a hilariously poorly phrased bit of advice, she's gone even further to avoid it. Maybe being able to physically (etherically) see her "anger" will help her in the long run.
