We're Australia, our national holiday should be commemorating something completely frivolous and using it as an excuse to get shitfaced. I suggest the anniversary of the first episode of Count Down. Nobody can get offended about Count Down.

Now, do you mean opening ourselves up for storing other countries' waste? Nope. Not unless we stick it in Hunter's Hill or under Federal Parliament, anyway.

Makes sense. Does this include just Lucas Heights or all the other sources that crop us as well? I'm assuming it would. Also, is it the policy though? Does it have to be voted for or can Di Natale just make it so? Quantum Mechanic posted:Now, do you mean opening ourselves up for storing other countries' waste? Nope. Not unless we stick it in Hunter's Hill or under Federal Parliament, anyway. Well, we do export quite a bit of Uranium. You could argue we should have more of a role in a solution as we've contributed to a bit of the problem. The genie is out of the bottle. You can't un-mine it. Where do The Greens stand on where it should be stored? The country where it was used or whoever puts their hand up for the cash? We have a very geological stable continent. Sounds like some serious coin could be made to fund our own renewable energy program. I'm not trying to purposely stir poo poo as I'm genuinely interested, but it sounds a bit like a cop out policy.

Looks like the LNPhave decided on the most appealing reason to cut tax for the richquote:A host of work-related tax deductions claimed by individuals every year that amount to tens of billions of dollars could be scrapped and replaced with low personal tax rates, submissions from Treasury and business groups to the Turnbull government's inquiry into tax deductibility show. I'm guessing if you can afford a slick accountant you'll still be able to claim a bunch of poo poo, all while benefiting from a new lower tax rate.

Some interesting comments. Not really into the whole Australia Day malarkey. It always seems a bit of a wank-fest. However, I do enjoy the the day off and the BBQ we traditionally have at the local park. Probably worth a bit of a nod to the the good and not so good parts of history though. Still a bit of a mystery to me why people seem to get so much joy on getting so down on poo poo but each to their own I guess.
