I was just about to ask about stories that justify the "battle brothers" ally rating between Eldar and Dark Eldar, are there others?

I can't think of any examples offhand but the reasoning is that Eldar hate and think everyone else is dumb more than they hate each other. The 4 Eldar factions tend to be more neutral toward each rather than actively hostile, despite the 'dark' and non-dark distinctions. I think the battle brothers ally rating is probably just down to them being the same species, and therefore better than every other species in the galaxy I'll have you know, you young Mon-Keigh whippersnappers.

Even having your 1st book published doesn't guaranty an income that can sustain a single person let alone a family. Even down the line it might still be a thing that you have to branch out to other forms of writing, not just novels or do ghostwriter work. Just take Dan Abnet as an example he's done TONS of writer work ranging from Novels, comics, video games, movies, animated shows. Thinking about it that man's been a raging writing machine since the day he started. Kharn_The_Betrayer fucked around with this message at 21:46 on Jan 27, 2016 |

So after some 15-odd years of loving BL and 40k I Finally read Eisenhorn. I never read it before now because as a kid (Discovered this poo poo in the 5th grade) Stuff like double eagle, and bolter porn was more my speed. Lately (since middle school) I've been sort of focused on the Horus Heresy when it comes to BL books. Now that i am a man i have put away my childish things, went on vacation and read all three drinking rum on a beach. God drat you guys were not kidding. That's just a quality series.

I think with Eisenhorn it was more Abnett looking at a picture and being like "HEY GW I WANT TO WRITE ABOUT THAT" and GW were like "okay, we're releasing a whole line of new characters... can you include one or two of them somehow? Here's what they sorta look like. The back stories are pretty much up to you." That's probably easier than what I suspect is going on with ADB, where he's like "k, so as we agreed, I'm doing a book about ____" and GW is like, "Yep, also, you need to include this unrelated model somehow, this other unrelated model somehow, and then reference X, Y, and Z as well!! Cool?" "Um..."

No, the backstory is more GW: : "Here is a drawing, we are making models for it, write us a book" DA: "Can I create my own character instead? I have this idea..." GW: "No" "I mean the drawing literally has a lightsabre here, maybe I should..." GW: "No, get typing monkey boy" DA: "Oh, OKAY then" *writes story where character starts out with all the stuff the drawing has, has him get his poo poo wrecked and lose all of it, ends as the completely different character the author wanted to create* GW: "... gently caress you Dan"

Fried Chicken posted:No, the backstory is more That's an accurate portrayal of how I imagine GW usually treats its writers, but this was one of those cases where Abnett was inspired by the painting and got to do what he wanted. quote:Among the pages, along with a number of other very fine pictures, was a copy of John Blanche's painting [called Inquisitor Tannenberg originally]. And that was it. I picked up the phone, called Black Library and said, 'Can I please write about this?' Even though, truth be told, at that stage I didn't know exactly what 'this' was.
