I'm worried that once he gets down to a healthy weight he's gonna step on himself when he walks. Apparently this is called a primordial or jungle pouch. My formerly 28-lb cat Fatty has one that I can stick my hand into and pull out like wings, which grosses my husband out. He also has this collection of loose skin between his front legs that we call his brisket. It all jiggles when he runs.

On top of being a great story for the hound, it's a huge publicity boon for a race that's meant to raise money for a school district. I'm going to point to this story any time somebody acts impressed that I run halfs. It's like, "this dog has me beat by 45 minutes without trying, you could do this too". On a similarly uplifting note, at this very same race, this kid set a world record for an 8-year-old running a half marathon, with a time of 1:38:22. Which is really frigging fast.

Elias_Maluco posted:And as always the comments are packed with people lecturing about how awful it is that the dog was walking free by the town and that her owner is basically hitler Different areas of the states have different opinions. Where I grew up in Rhode Island everyone let there dogs run free. Nobody had fences (except a few people) and dogs would come bark in our backyard till we let our dog out. They would then run off to play together. When our dog was found in the meat section at the grocery store they would just call us to come get him. Now I live in the Dallas area and everyone has fences. If people see a dog running loose they call the city to come lock it up. I saw a Rottweiler and Pit bull running loose in my neighborhood a long time ago and let them into my backyard so I could call the owners. The guy came and got them and was very thankful. About a week later this little kid rings my doorbell (mother in the car) and says "thanks for saving my dogs" handing me a $50 gift card to Pet Smart.

Butters is taking that much more calmly than any of my cats would. Athos and Porthos would have flipped their poo poo and turned into a whirring, screaming buzzsaw of death.

^ I was thinking the same, he was remarkably chill and didn't freak out like a lot of cats usually do. His pitiful little meows are the best

My brother in law once had to bathe their fat white and orange cat. The cat did not approve. My sister came home to find him covered in scratches and a very grumpy, wet cat. Butterscotch is much better at being bathed.
