One of my close friends teaches at a private school in Thailand. She tells me some of the names of her students and they're frankly usually hilarious and awesome. Some of my favourites: Latte GunGun PP Jet Lee Jelly Nutt Nutt Whern Singha (which she tells me is a brand of beer there...?) Marwins Ksenia Princess I just...I can't imagine holding a little human in my arms for the first time and deciding their fate is to go through life as PP or GunGun or Latte...

India has a huge Catholic population, and a weird naming tradition I can't remember the details of that causes the first name of one person to become last name of another. The result is tons of people with last names like Mathew and John. Huge and tons in terms of absolute numbers, that is. Even a small minority is gigantic when you're talking a billion goddamn people.
