It hurt them a lot in the short term but in the long term...well... Right now Iceland is actually ahead of where they were before the crash. They not only completely recovered but are growing. It turns out that giving the major banks the finger, throwing white collar criminals in jail, and refusing austerity was, in fact, the right answer.
