Maybe this will be the first year the eventual front-runner doesn't win any of the early primary states. Trump will have narrative strength, but I'd be willing to bet you're going to see a lot more people jump behind Rubio after NH.

mastershakeman posted:How on earth did he pull that off, anyways Fractured support. Basically of the 10 contests that Clinton lost, 4 went to Tsongas, 3 went to Harkin, 2 went to Brown, and 1 went to Kerrey. Clinton started winning in the South after that initial blitz, and Brown picked up enough momentum to knock Tsongas out. Then Jerry Brown said he would consider Jesse Jackson as a possible veep less than a year removed from the Crown Heights riots and lost NY and the primary.

mastershakeman posted:How on earth did he pull that off, anyways 4 of those had "favorite son" candidates, so coming in 2nd or 3rd was enough to keep momentum; 1 was a caucus where "Uncommitted" won so no one cared. So, really, he only lost 5 out of 6? But even while losing, he was really the only thing the media could talk about, and so he got a lot of donations and kept afloat. Heck, they even declared him the 'real' winner of NH even though he was 9 points behind Tsongas. He then went on to win 10 of the next 12 across the next two weeks, and was 2nd in one of the 2 he lost.

EDIT 2: The more I read this thing, the more irritated I get about it. You have a political scientist actively rewriting her theory to fit the data mid-article, when it should always be the other way around. If you can't predict with it, what's the point? It doesn't matter. None of it matters. The day after you tell him his fingers are tiny, he'll have a doctor's report verifying that his fingers are WELL within the average range of length and in fact slightly longer than the average!
