GOTTA STAY FAI posted:How much data does this game use, say, in an hour of continuous play? Google turns up nothing but forums on which people helpfully say "if you had unlimited Internet it wouldn't matter " To answer your other question, it should be a pathetically small amount. The amount of game data that is used for communication is practically negligible. We're talking like a few KB tops. After playing for hours it would add up to a few MB but that's all. Pretty much the only practical thing to worry about is all the patches. Those are obviously huge. The actual game data is tiiiny by comparison.

It took a while, but someone in Japan came up with an online Inkling creator. Now you too can have the totally original Splatoon OC that you've always wanted (do not steal.) Now, it's all in Japanese, you can't make dudes and the clothing selection is a little limited, but it's apparently been updated since launch and I was able to make up my go-to Carbon Roller loadout, at least: (Not pictured, the LE lo-tops I wear because they have sub ink saver and look cool.)

This isn't a fight the nerd community of Podunk County, USA can win. Well, there's that, and that it's not really my fight to begin with--I'm just staying here for the winter. Back home, up in the rural poverty funland that is the Midwestern U.S., I actually have a choice of three providers that are relatively affordable. My buddy here in rural east Texas has access to a single provider, and they have data caps. They do offer an unlimited plan, but it's prohibitively expensive. Dr Cheeto posted:I don't know about Time-Warner but Comcast is definitely rolling out data caps in test markets within the United States.. They try this once in a while, and as far as I've heard, it's never received well. Decisions like trying out metering and capping their service make me think they're actively trying to stay in the top 5 list of "Worst Companies in America."

Most of the time the reason that there is only two providers is because one of the two companies contracted themselves with the government to only allow one other company in the city, which is totally legal and "allows for competition"

MustelaFuro posted:Anyone have any advice on effectively using inkmines? I suck with them other than leaving them next to opponents beacons. Leave them in a bust cross section like the middle of the mall or one of the lanes at the port, they are great for Jumpers when you don't want to wait, place one on the tower in Tower Control, and revenge splats.

Revenge kill insurance policy. I drop one every time I make contact for peak suicide bombing. If you have friendly ink to maneuver in and a point the other guy is likely to cross then drop & bait can be effective especially on the other side of the map.

MustelaFuro posted:Anyone have any advice on effectively using inkmines? I suck with them other than leaving them next to opponents beacons. Yeah, dropping them and falling back is pretty effective. The problem is that there's enough of a lag between activation and detonation that unless the target is distracted, it's pretty easy to get out of the kill zone. Maybe try dropping them when you get into a fight? That way when it detonates it should take them out too, or at least cover up the enemy ink you create on death. I did the last Kraken challenge as a way of getting back in after a week of inactivity. It was fun! The only part of the Octavio fight that gave me trouble was the very last bit, and that was because there was so much going on that I missed the big missile. Otherwise, I was Kraked out the whole time. The Hero Shot Replica's okay. Don't much like burst bombs, and a rotation with long, sniper-friendly maps like bridge and port was probably the worst place to test out a medium-range shooter, but I liked it even though I was outranged a few times. Got a few people with the bomb rush, too. That must sting.

I can't recall ever saying anything bad about sloshers, but if I did I take it back--the tri-slosher is loving FANTASTIC. On the mall especially, it was really good at flushing out sniper positions.

The regular slosher gets a little more range if you're interested in flushing chargers. I've been using it a lot recently and it's very fun.

The tri-slosher is a little faster, though, and I think that's what drew me to it. The bubbler is super useful when pushing, too. Does damage up affect slosher shots in any way? I was running it with a shirt that had main ink up and three damage up subs, but I was wondering if I needed to.
