I don't get the food one. I mean, I am an anxiety-ridden fool with the meds to prove it, but I can't say I've ever had trouble ordering my own drat food. If it's about being anxious that you won't like it or paralyzed with indecision,. wouldn't you just fall into a pattern of ordering the same thing everywhere rather than let your significant other control what you eat like a creep?

That list of steps to take is not a way to help, but a way to coddle someone who wants to use it as an excuse instead of getting better.

I prefer having someone else do the ordering (or just doing it online) because it involves talking on the phone, which combines all the regular terror of social interaction with a lack of nonverbal cues and sometimes difficulty making things out properly. These are, at least to my lovely, lovely brain, on par with sticking my hand in a bag full of spiders in terms of things to fear, so it makes normal interaction difficult, since I'm having to suppress the adrenaline coming from my brain insisting that we're about to get killed. (I am currently procrastinating on some phone calls for this reason.) Unless they mean doing the ordering in person as well, which... I guess could also be a social anxiety thing, but I've never really had it, and I don't know anyone who does. Either way, it's just a terrible idea to refuse to even try doing it yourself, since you're just encouraging the broken bits. ETA: I think ^^^ has it. I forgot about how terrifying it is to ask for waitstaff to fix an error, since, y'know, OBVIOUSLY they are personally invested in the food delivery and will be immediately upset. Basically my broken brain assumes that reality functions like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwZaqZaRe78 Puppy Time has a new favorite as of 22:49 on Feb 3, 2016 |

Unless you're talking like major level "can't function in society" anxiety.

I like LoB's posts because I always imagine it as if there were two people having a conversation about some random topic and then this other dude just walks up to them and starts going off on some long rant about minorities. Even though it's a really simple gimmick, I find something about the "reply to someone's quote with an unrelated racist diatribe" format really funny.

He talks at length about how he abused the system to come out ahead in those instances (somewhat dubious claim since he's generally a blowhard, but not impossible), while conveniently making no mention of anyone else impacted by his inability to sustain the businesses. I swear I remember seeing some old CBS or PBS documentary about him from before he got into politics where he admitted to actually being in relatively (for him) bad personal finances for a bit during his first major bankruptcy. Like actually having to stick to a budget, the horror. Also about how his dad walked into one of his casinos, bought a few million in chips, then walked right back out without playing a game to try to "creatively" bail him out, once.

So that's cool and trendy. A guy brought his anxiety service dog to the building cafeteria a few months ago.
