It wasn't NASA posting them officially, it's just a private individual working with NASA historians and various others, posting high-res shots that were already in the public domain. It also isn't from "the" mission - there were six lunar landings in total, and the shots are from all of them, not just Apollo 11 (the first landing). e: actually, it's from the whole project. There are some from 13 in there too. Hyperlynx has a new favorite as of 10:55 on Feb 4, 2016 |

Alteisen posted:I've always wondered how service dogs react to the loss of their patient. Well, as someone with service dog partners... It is the closest relationship in your life. Many marriages aren't as close. The dogs willingly and happily work with their people. When one partner dies, it's as devastating to them as you might think. I lost Mia, my partner of 13 years, in August. My life is empty without her, despite the fact that I have another partner whom I also depend on to work. I love her, but it is not the same. My old girl Mia told me when to get up, have breakfast, go to work, do chores, play, everything. Miss Mercedes is more hands-off, unless it's goodie time for her. I have a rescue youngster and a puppy I am currently training. Nate, the young boy, just finished his show championship. He is gorgeous and timid, much like Mia was when I first got her. Nate is trying very hard to learn his job. Liberty Belle, the puppy, is your typical hooligan & juvenile delinquent.

This is Buddy, my in-law's golden retriever. He passed away this past November at the ripe old age of 16. He was my favorite reason to go visit the in-laws. As soon as I'd get there he'd never leave my side. I have a picture of him somewhere of when I was over there and got a pretty gnarly migraine and laid down on the couch. Buddy came over and layed his head on my belly for about 30 minutes, just looking at me with sad eyes because he knew I didn't feel well. He was a certified good dog. Yesterday my wife texts me that a golden retriever just wandered into our yard, walked up the front stairs and just chilled out for awhile. My wife and other mother-in-law went around the neighborhood looking for his owner but noone claimed him. They're gonna go look some more today but I honestly hope nothing turns up because he's exactly like Buddy, same temperament, same love of tennis balls, just and a certified good dog. You can tell he's an older fella, but I don't care, I want to give him a good home for however long we can.

Someone broke into my apartment, walked right past the new TV/PS4, sound-system, wallet laying out on the kitchen table, MacBook on the coffee table, etc just so they could knock the dog food off the top of the refrigerator. Luckily, disaster recovery services were already on the scene, by the time I heard the loud thud.

Ahahaha, that face. That's the same face our old Welsh Springer Spaniel gave my mom the day she caught him eating the frosting off my grandmother's birthday cake. I didn't say anything at the time, but I blamed her for putting it on a low coffee table where she knew he could reach it.

Her name was Tifa and I loved her very much, she passed away in an unfortunate accident, the cat below is Mino, he's 6 and still kicking, I'm sure you can notice the resemblance. I never intended to get another Tifa but I just went to adopt and lo and behold, he picked me to and is the sweetest baby ever, he's the most docile cat I've ever owned. I guess what I'm trying to say is that its fairly obvious your heart yearns for another buddy in your life and perhaps Jake was trying to tell you that.
