Been Playing wings for a few months and lurking the thread for a while but just wanted to stop by and thank whoever invented "WOP WOP WOP" or as I like to call it "PALPY-WOP aka Hey what's up hello." Whisper+OL+Palp is super fun to fly especially against my usual opponents who run all sorts of odd ywing+bwing nonsense. I honestly thought making the Omi into Yorr was a waste until I managed to pull a decloack boost --> 3k --> barrel roll(that is legal right since stress transfers to yorr?) I have never gotten the chance to play @ any sort of official place so my knowledge comes from thread+reading+youtube but I wanted to see if there was anyone who could show me Vassal(EST) or was in the NY Long Island area who would want to fly some wings? I fly mainly Imperials like TRI-ACE builds or palp escort lists.

Been watching Star Wars Rebels on and off the last week and after finishing season 1 I'm pretty hyped for the next wave! Need to see season 2 which I've heard is even better. I'm pretty impressed at season 1 anyway, it's got a very nice OT Star Wars feel to it.

Yorr works by immediately taking the stress at the moment it is assigned; the stress token never even goes to Whisper, so you are free to take actions (and, more importantly, get your re-cloak for shooting). In my mind, Yorr is absolutely worth the investment of points, even if you have to lose the Stealth Device on Omega Leader to get there. Being able to freely SLoop and KTurn with your aces while the space cow takes up space and provides supplementary fire is incredibly dangerous, and your opponent needs to respect the option for you to pull off some truly nasty poo poo; moreover, it encourages aggressive shuttle flying, which is good, because the guns are good. In store league for Feb/Mar, my WOP list has taken a combined 7 damage, and 100-0'd both games, for a 2-0 start. It's legit. The start isn't as bad as I thought it would be, and the show very quickly dispenses with its toddler-show trappings and becomes pretty fun. It's definitely still a show aimed at younger minds, and new, upcoming fans of the franchise, but there's call backs and nostalgia trips, too. Hera started out as my favorite, but she's slipped behind Chopper and Kanan now. Most of the crew of the Ghost is pretty great.

I ran a Yorr list myself for store championships. Academy Pilot Yorr + Darth Vader Omega Leader Soontir OL and Soontir had their standard loadout. Going into store championships I was like 20 and 3 with the list, and the ones I'd lost were all super close. Then I did really lovely at the store championships itself.

I think part of the problem is that four-ship Empire lists just strike me as inherently weak; ideally you want to go 5+ or 3, based on my listbuilding experience, or you run the risk of creating weird gaps in what your list can fly against. Whisper with Palp dicehax is a genuinely terrifying board presence, but Omega Leader is the kind of ship you genuinely cannot leave on the board last, so people are stuck with a "what the gently caress do I even shoot at first" problem that you can exacerbate with your starting setup. I'm curious as to how you dealt with high-PS opponents, because that's what worries me the most right now with WOP (that, and Brobots), and on paper, if I was going to run four ships I'd probably run something like what you've got here.

High PS opponents didn't really bother me. That's what the Doomshuttle was for. It was usually pretty easy to tell where they were going (ie not in front of the doomshuttle) so the rest of the list would just pounce on them. Or if they DID joust the shuttle, even better. I've nuked every common PS9-11 ace with that list at least once. The biggest problem with my list was low burst damage once the shuttle was gone, especially against other high-agility opponents. O'Leader does his work over time. Soontir without a targeting computer does moderate damage. lol@academy pilot. I basically either won in the first few rounds, or the match lasted forever. I've switched to a variant that seems much more offensive but far less defensive. I want to see how it plays out. OGP shuttle with Palp Wampa O'Leader (Juke, CommRelay) Vader (VI, title, ATC) Played it three times last night. Lost once, but by the skin of my teeth, against a 3x Y-Wing & HWK turret list. A couple of dice rolls the other way would have got me the win. Edit: One of my pre-tournament losses was to a 3-ship all PS10 list though. Poe, Corran, Airen Cracken. But other than VI Vader not really sure what I would do different to counter that anyway. ConfusedUs fucked around with this message at 17:11 on Feb 4, 2016 |

So, a few weeks back I played against a guy who had a Decimator list with kenkirk+Isard+RebelCaptive+Gunner+VI and swore up and down it was the best Decimator list. So, last night I took it up against a Rebel Aces list (Regen Poe + Regen RedAce + Stresshog) and holy balls it was annoying. I dispatched the stresshog early, so it was my Kenkirk+Whisper against Poe and RedAce. The person I was playing kinda floated Poe around the asteroids in the middle a bit so I focused on RedAce (who was green maneuvering almost the whole game to regen shields off Artoo) and Kenkirk just could. not. close. the deal. It was a battle of attrition and my poor job of flying Whisper combined with Kenkirk's lack of offensive punch couldn't get through RedAce's shields before Poe showed up and plinked away at the Deci. Also, Rebel Captive is overrated, I think, at least against rebel aces. Regen aces don't give a care about a little stress against Decimator. Next round, I'm going to do the more standard RAC with Vader+Gunner and see if I like it any better. Whisper was fun, and was the first time I'd really used it at all. I need some practice with it, but it felt agile and effective, even with the decloak nerf. I just have to practice avoiding obstacles.

Do you have access to Stealth Devices? Mangler on a TIE Defender and any ordnance is wasted, to be honest, you are doing pretty good damage anyway on 3 dice.
|
# ? Feb 4, 2016 18:04 |

Yes I do, I figured the mangler cannon would be good on this ship to get some crits.

Mangler is pretty good but only in specific situations, IMO. Ten Numb (B-Wing pilot that has unavoidable crits) loves it, some IG-88 builds make use of it, Dash can use it if you hate donut holes and the Scyk can use it (lol). If you have 3 dice already there isn't as much value.

My plan was go get Omega Ace and Epsilon attacking from the front(getting Omega Ace up close to get the 3 crits) and Soontir and Alpha getting behind.

I've tried Autoblaster/EU/PTL/Unhinged on Kavil a couple of times and I had a very hard time ever being in range 1. The one time it happened I zipped an Interceptor in one shot which was glorious but it's very hard to even line up a shot against someone who knows what's coming.

Kavil with Blaster Turret and R4 Agromech isn't terrible. Spending the focus gives you a target lock to use to modify the dice. I think Kavil is going to shine with the upcoming Dorsal Turret. That being said I think currently dropping Kavil to a Syndicate Thug and spending the extra 7 points elsewhere may be better.
