I'm no body paint expert but I suspect there is a difference between paint that goes on skin, and paint that goes on (skin tight) clothes. Now everyone has rushed in and successfully declared how progressive they are, lets have some cosplay. Arkham Aslyum Batman:  Arkham City Batman:  Arkham Origins Batman (who I'm convinced is cheating with CGI here, but still):  Can't find any decent cosplay of the suit from Arkham Knight, but a couple of the actual, uh, Arkham Knight.  Lets get some primary colours in here for the rest of the gang:

"True to the source" jokes aside, I think it's partly a result of videogame Batman being so goddamn huge that cosplayers look weird when replicating him:  He's been stylized and made to look a little more realistic in the latest games, but your average Bat-fan is still going to be ridiculously small next to him.
