Anybody had any luck with controllers? I liked using a pad for EU and I recently replayed it using my DS4 with Inputmapper and it worked perfectly. Can't get the thumbsticks to register in this one, though.

For those able to play and experiencing bad framerates, is it the result of the game being really graphically demanding or is it just poorly optimized?

Everything in the first mission is scripted.

Is there a way to force your initial squad to consist of people from your pool instead of randoms? Someone earlier posted about how to populate your base with them but the initial 4 are still randos. I just want to start my main campaign with my dude in the first mission.

I would bet some bad optimization. I remember that I ran EU really well, but when I installed EW on the same computer my framerate turned to utter garbage, though it got good again eventually after some patch.

??? I have an nvidia 670 and have 40 - 60fps most situations on default 'High' settings (with an i2500k cpu and 8gb ram). It's installed on an SSD and load times between missions are like < 20 seconds. For a 2016 game and my old-rear end configuration this seems appropriate.

Oh, this ought to be good... I remember this guy from when he tried playing Planetside a year or two back. He made a number of highly entertaining and bad decisions that resulted in not just him and his "Angry Joe Army", but his entire chosen faction getting completely screwed over for an entire evening. For anyone wanting to use the mod tools, after the download you'll need to go to the folder \Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2 SDK\Binaries\Redist and run the two installers there. Otherwise you'll get an error when trying to launch.

It doesn't get used up, if that's what you're thinking. It's a permanent upgrade to a particular weapon; you just can't transfer it to other guns.

You can even switch upgraded weapons between users. That's why you can name an individual one.

The initial squad line is for if you skip the tutorial, I'm guessing. Try turning all instances of whatever_mixed to whatever_poolonly.

That's the problem I have with it. I wanted to put the scope I got on my sniper since other units I'd put it on are out of commission right now, but if I do that it's stuck there. Firaxis needs to learn about picatinny rails. :argh:

I'm not sure if I'm into this whole 'HURRY THROUGH EVERY MISSION" thing. I'm fine with the usual X-Com rush through the overmap but to include it in drat near every mission is annoying.

Also, did they dramatically increase the difficulty? I've done a dozen or so Ironman Classic runs on EU and it didn't feel this difficult. I'm running around with basic equipment + mods with my LTs and SGTs and the enemy is throwing mechsuits and a bunch of snaketits at me.

Goddamnit, the first non-scripted/directed action I got to take against an enemy was an 88% Sword Attack that I missed. Literally the first thing I did. It's so XCom that it hurts. Oh, and the game crashed on the flight back to the base, so I guess it's time for sleep.
