Obama had the bully pulpit, people wanted single payer. If blue dog democrats didn't follow the line, it would have looked bad on them. Instead we have this weird system that can easily be repealed or changed and most people don't even want. Yay.

Despite having a supermajority the Democrats couldn't even get a public option in Obamacare basically because Joe Lieberman is a jerk. Democrats are not going to get 60 senators again for quite some time, so how is single-payer going to happen anytime soon?
