I predict i_still_trust_cig expresses disappointment with Ben for telling Batgirl that female models won't be in game any time soon...

I can't believe it's taken so long. I get that they want different movement animations for female models and whatnot-- but it's been 18+ months. Maybe this is a Hideo "She had certain way of walking - kind of a wriggle" thing?

They at least could've thrown in a tomboy model-- using the male animation system.

Then again, given the fanbase, maybe it's best they keep punting on that one...

Since I haven't seen anyone else respond... The 'freeze' is a cut off date for the the inclusion of content in the next version. Since they are aiming for monthly patches, features that aren't completed in time for the 'freeze' will have to wait for a future patch.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess that the store isn't going to make it into the next patch version if they're serious about actually setting a deadline for features and just pushing whatever poo poo they've got. All it will be is some tweaked xml values, maybe a fixed airlock door, and possibly one ship that's hangar ready.

Hopefully no other airgoons have beaten me to the punch, but the whole no-forward-view thing is specific to Lindy and the Spirit of St Louis—now, granted, normal unmodified Ryan M-2s don't have the greatest visibility either, but only the SoStL has the whole space-between-pilot's-face-and-exterior-of-aircraft-otherwise-wasted-so-bolt-in-a-fuel-tank thing going on.

Yes, I wasn't very clear on it, but that was pretty much my point: SoStL has deliberately poor visibility because it was so far down on the list of necessities. Lindberg would spend a day and a half staring at instruments while navigating across a featureless ocean, and knew how to do out-the-side landings from his post flying days. Compared to carrying more fuel and having less drag, there was simply no need to be able to look forward.

For the uninitiated, he's not joking about the “caustic” part. The salt that makes Swedish and Finnish “salmiak” liquorice salty isn't your regular NaCL table salt — it's this stuff: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammonium_chloride
Note, please, the Usage section: “Ammonium chloride is used as a flux in preparing metals to be tin coated, galvanized or soldered.”

YOUTUBE: Bensday with Batgirl and Ben eps 42

This is one of those interesting "read between the lines" episodes that is both boring as hell yet pregnant with interesting tidbits. At least for those here paying close attention. If you have a beer nearby, the drinking game for this video is (surprise) "Wing Commander" mentions. (Do not use a distilled spirit.)

I'm beginning to wonder at what point Ben will be labelled a liability rather than an asset to CIG. Sure, by all accounts, he will never abandon his hero worship of CRobber, but that kind of undying loyalty only has so many uses and at some point his attempts at covering stuff up will become a negative no matter how well-meaning they might be on his part.

These lapses in mis-leaks are becoming increasingly common, and happen more and more when in contact with other equally convinced zealots that seem to start noticing the gaps too. So when will that be too much and he can't be let out of his pen any more, or will the top brass remain as ignorant of their issues as they've seemed so far and simply never notice the problem?

This is brutal. Batgirl is unique in that she seems to have a naive trust of CIG, but she nonetheless goes in for tough questions that the rest of the propaganda arm intuitively know not to touch. I wonder what threshold she needs to reach before actually losing faith in the project.

She's known it's bollocks for well over a year, last week she made the decision not to talk about Star Marine at all. She was friendly with Wingman and Morlan intended to do daily videos of 2.0 and gave up after a day, her "subscribers" have bought her a lot of ships thought so she's in a tricky position.

I'm not even sure if monthly patches were something that CIG promised. I recall one of the devs saying they are stopping work on 2.1.1 to work on next months patch, but I'm not sure that they actually meant monthlies. But I know that the fanboys have certainly clung on to the promise of monthly patches coming out with meaningful new content.

Wait, so what they're saying lately is they can't show off a single frame of Squid 42 gameplay cause they don't want anyone to find out that Bishop, a very well-known and -liked admiral of the UEE—think of him like Maximus from Gladiator—won a battle [with the enemy Vanduul] at great personal loss; his daughter commanded one of the other ships in the fleet, and she sacrifices herself to save Bishop's ship. That's one of the reasons why Bishop is haunted. You start out in the military earning citizenship, and you get your wish to become a fighter pilot. While you're training, Admiral Bishop and the [UEE] task force go off into Vanduul space and take the fight to them. As you come out to deploy, the news comes through that they've lost contact with the task force. Bishop goes missing, and the rest of the game is you trying to find him. You go behind enemy lines, trying to find out where Bishop is, and you see things that have happened along the way that gives you [a reaction] like, Has he lost his mind? What's happening? It's sort of the Ninth Legion mixed with Heart of Darkness. So you get behind enemy lines, and you find out there's a Vanduul plan to shortcut past the Earth's defenses, and you have to stop it. At the end of it there's this big last stand, and you get back to human space. But Bishop is still left, behind the Vanduul side, kind of like Commander Cain on the Pegasus in [classic] Battlestar Galactica. You come back a bit of a war hero, and you muster out, and potentially Bishop's still out there fighting the battle behind enemy lines.

Well good thing they don't show us any of that, cause man it's gonna be so much better to find out when the game releases that Bishop, a very well-known and -liked admiral of the UEE—think of him like Maximus from Gladiator—won a battle [with the enemy Vanduul] at great personal loss; his daughter commanded one of the other ships in the fleet, and she sacrifices herself to save Bishop's ship. Look on the bright side, with reddit and the RSI forum's becoming less hostile to skeptics/critics it could be interpreted as a sign of increasing desperation.
