Tenzarin posted:Takes me atleast 3 shots to kill a faceless on legend. Really need to get better guns or a 6th soldier. Setting them on fire might also help since that disables all abilities except moving, hunkering and their basic attack. I know being on fire prevents stunlancers from stun lancing (though they can still shoot) but I don't know if the basic attack of the faceless counts or not. Barring that poison will give them penalties to make it them less likely to work, as does disorienting.

DreamShipWrecked posted:I think the Commander got captured during the base assault, yeah No. None of EU happened. None of it. Literally no point in that game is real. Canon is someone else was playing XCOM, fell in March to the Council betraying you, and by June Earth capitulated. Between March/June they strapped the Commander to the simulation, which was the whole game. The whole game was a simulation. They didn't capture the Commander midgame and keep the sim going from that point, they made a sim that started in Feb. And then when XCOM became a resistance movement instead, they altered the simulation to make it so you were fighting rebels. Then they tested how humans would react to gene mods/MECs.

I really love the ragdolling that occurs when you pick up loot. If you grab an item from the opposite corner of the pickup zone, it will zoom into the soldier's hand, smacking around any debris in the way. I got a Viper flung at least six tiles that way.

PirateBob posted:Is this the same engine that Xcom used? I'm unimpressed by the aliasing. Even 4x MSAA doesn't seem to help much. Yes, a decedent of Unreal 3.5 (they mucked with the engine too much for a UE4 switch, though it looks like they've pulled in at least some new graphics tech since they're using nicer PBR & lighting) Regular MSAA was kinda pointless on Xcom 1 as well, the edges that are most noticeable are the UI textures that are overlayed on the world, not the poly edges on normal objects. If you have a beastly video card you could try turning off AA in the game and force enabling 2x supersampling in your drivers. Like a 980 or 980ti, but with the lousy performance from in-game MSAA it might actually be a FPS improvement! Xcom 1 eventually got some good help from SweetFX with very nice SMAA settings that worked great.

If they're unconscious then they're down for the remainder of the mission unless you have Revival Protocol or Restoration on your Specialist. If you don't and you have to evac then you're going to need to carry your buddy out or leave the soldier behind. They will get back up after the mission ends though. (I'm wondering if the psionic ability Solace could clear it? I know it clears several other abilities that Revival Protocol clears and I don't think there's much of a chance, but I've never seen a situation where it could be tested)

Something I noticed about the Leader Pack mod: It makes seamless additions to both the combat UI (the 'Toggle leadership radius' button) and the base UI (buttons for training leaders, etc). Between that, and the SMG pack fitting in equally seamlessly (they even look nice and accept external weapon mods same as any other gun), the sky's the limit for modding this time round. The Day 0 mods showcase stuff that was either nearly or completely impossible to do in Xcom 1. This one is going to have very, very long legs.
